Keeping a Journal...

Hi everyone...
last June after comeing to fully Understand that people just do not understand I started to keep a Journal... Month by Month...everyday I write in Just how I am feeling...symptoms...how dabilitateing it is..how it is affecting my ability to do the things I need to do that day...and alot of times I eneter several things a day...at the very beginning of this Journal I have written my "Head To Toe" symptoms list...anything that plagues me on a regular basis...from headaches to the raynauds in my toes... We FEEL bad about Feeling bad....Why is that ?? we cannot hope that everyone else Understands something that we ourselves do not even Understand....we get mad about someone getting frustrated when we ourselves get frustrated with this damn DIS-EASE !!! We NEED to STOP !! this is something that will probably be with us for the very rest of our Lives... I have Stopped trying to explain anything to anyone...the biggest reason is i am aware I might just wear them down with all my pain... I make No Aplolgies for me haveing to Now say NO from time to time...it is just the way it Now is...I have to deal with it...and I cannot deal with it alone...I need help...either emotional or someone to just give me a damn hand from time to time... this site has helped SO very much with the EMOTIONAL things...I have someone to talk to that I do not NEED to explain the WHYs of it all.....so I no longer NEED to Bombard my family and friends with it everydamnday... I had an appointment with my Dr. last week...a physical....I sent a copy of my journal for that month to him in advance...he looked at me when he sat down and said....."Do You REALLY feel this way all the TIME ??"...I said "yes...now can you help me please"...I told him my biggest FEAR is that Now that I have been Diagnosed with FM/CFS that every symptom I have will be shoved into THAT catagory....and we may Miss something that could easily be fatal...after all...had I been diagnosed with FM before 2004...my Blue toes would have been pushed off as simple raynauds...and a Clot that was blocking my abdominal Aorta 100 percent would Not have been caught in time....all the symptoms i had were among the symptoms of FM... he agreed...and is Now in the process of running a huge amount of tests....just to check everything out... keep a journal....for your OWN peace of mind...has done wanders for me. Fantastic for you. My doctor told me to keep a journal for a month, about a year ago. I did and when I brought it to him, he has the same reaction that yours did....shock, and finally recognition of what I had been trying to explain all along. This is a great idea and I am glad that you thought to share it.

A wonderful idea! I journal, but don't really detail the way you do. I never thought of doing that and taking it to the doctor, now I will.

I agree with you. I don't have a journal yet but going to start one. I have no patience for writing. I did however get my doctor to run a batch of tests, getting a pap test tomorrow and a mammogram on the 23rd. I haven't had a mamm yet and figured it was time. I have a bunch of "new" symptoms that I haven't had before and figure I better get them checked out, one being cancer.

It is a good idea to keep a journal of our symptoms and problems. It is a good way to track them and look for patterns.

I began journaling about 20 yrs ago , and going back thru them is fun and enlightening..I do wish I had put in last names tho...and now I keep two going and have since I was diagnosed in 2003..one is my personal and the other is my medical...with all the fog we suffer thru it is the only way for me . I think it is a good thing and I am glad to see others think so too..

Yes I agree it is a good idea. I am concerned of late that something going on with me might be other than fibro. I admit to not always journalling. especially the extent I am really feeling. thanks marily. will try to do better.

keeping it has helped me to find triggers...and keep perspective...and I just point at it when ever anyone in my family wants to know WHY I can't do something...best damn thing I have done this year....Bonnie
