I was diagnosed 2 years ago with fibromyalgia at the age of 23. I feel like i'm 80. I've tried Lyrica, muscle relaxers, cymbalta etc... nothing seems to touch my symptoms. They have gotten so bad that now my blood sugar is out of control, I have arthritis, and i'm constantly sick from sinus infections or colds. Not to mention the sleep, stomach, and depression symptoms.
Most doctors around here have given up on me and just guess now. I've been treated for things I don't have. One finally mentioned the other day he thinks I suffer from adrenal fatigue. He said that I may not even have fibromyalgia because this disease mimics the symptoms. It's normally treated with diet changes and supplements and he claims I could essentially cured. I was wondering if anyone else has this or has heard of it. If you do have it or know someone who does... does the diet/supplements/exercise program really make you feel human again? I'm young and single... i should have my whole life ahead of me and be looking for a husband and what not lol instead I forgo fun for sleep ha ha. Anywhosit... I included the 30 main symptoms here... The 30 symptoms include, but are not limited to: 1. Excessive fatigue and exhaustion, chronic fatigue 2. Non-refreshing sleep 3. Sleep disturbance, insomnia 4. Feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope 5. Craving salty and/or sweet foods 6. Sensitivity to light 7. Low stamina and slow to recover from exercise 8. Slow to recover from injury or illness 9. Difficulty concentrating, brain fog 10. Poor digestion 11. Irritable bowel syndrome, IBS 12. Low immune function 13. Premenstrual syndrome 14. Menopause symptoms 15. Low blood pressure 16. Sensitivity to cold 17. Fearfulness 18. Allergies, 19. Frequent influenza 20. Arthritis 21. Anxiety 22. Irritability 23. Depression 24. Reduced memory 25. Low libido, sexual drive or interest 26. Lack of lust for life and/or food 27. Excess hunger 28. Low appetite 29. Panic/anxiety attacks 30. Irritability, impatience, quick to anger. Posted on 07/05/10, 04:14 pm |

Hello,
You are so young and you are right, you should be enjoying life to the fullest :) Fibro doesn't seem to care :( The above symptoms could be caused from anything though... Adrenal fatigue, from what I read is the direct result of your body not being able to 'handle stress'. A person who craves salt or sugar and feels tired occaisonally is a much more MILD thing than that of Fibro. Fibro is a condition that involves the muscles, nerves, and is much more serious. You know how you feel and hopefully will convey this to your doctors more importantly - specialists, and NOT let them tell you how you feel. I do hope that one of them is able to help you by finding the correct combination of diet, exercise, medication, or whatever it takes to help you to feel better. Hugs, ♥ Eva

I think the vast majority of my symptoms are and always have been the result of adrenal fatigue. When I first started getting sick I developed this internal jitteriness that evolved into just being downright sick but I'm sure a huge part of that was the side-effects from meds as well as food intolerances and sensitivities. I was finally forced to clean up my diet due to severe bloating and went off my meds and started feeling better. Later I started taking the amino acid 5-htp that puts serotonin in your brain and for some unknown reason, it took away the internal jitters. Now I suffer mostly from short-term memory problems, fatigue, insomnia due to going into menopause and myofascial pain.
I do make sure to keep my salt intake up as adrenal fatigue causes your kidneys to excrete excess sodium and retain excess potassium leading to celluar dehydration. When I started drinking salt water, I noticed how much better my energy was. If you try it, be very careful as it's a laxative which is why I don't do it anymore. Unfortunately, I do feel much better when I eat sweets. Wish I didn't....

You prove how much of a hidden illness Fibrmyalgia is! You may feel 80, but you look young and full of energy. Other people seem to have good ideas for you. Hopefully those work. All I have to say is even when it feels like others are giving up on you, don't give up on yourself. Stick in there!

Ozark, Dr. Jacob Tietelbaum talks alot about adrenal fatigue in conjunction with fibro.....check out "From Fatigued to Fantastic", his book...I believe adrenal issues contribute to my symptoms....
I've started on his suggested regimen, and it helps tremendously with my daily energy level..... Maybe check it out, and talk to your doc about it.... HUGS from down south :)

I am sorry you are afflicted with this thing. However, I have wondered if I have adrenal fatigue but have never been tested for it. The list of symptoms you mentioned are very similar but I don't see pain listed anywhere. That is a primary symptom of Fibro. I take Lyrica, Cymbalta and Savella to control mine.
I had chronic fatigue a lot longer than the pain of Fibro, maybe if my adrenal glands would have been tested and treated, who knows how it might have turned out. I hope you find some things that help you.

P.S. I have found a diet with much less sugar and wheat in it has helped me tremendously. I have less pain and more energy.
