I dont know, but I would call and ask. I am sure you can go to a medicaid site or ask a ssi person.

Would you clarify? You said your disability company is going to help you apply for SSI. When you say disablity company do you mean you have a long term disability policy and it is the insurance company that you are referring to as your disability company?
If so then you must mean that they are going to help you apply for SSD (social security disability), not SSI. If that is the case, a word of warning. LTD Insurance carriers sure do want you to apply for SSD because that means that they have to pay out less on the policy. But don't use the lawyers that they send you to. Find your own lawyer or advocate. The SSD process takes a very long time. And if and when you do win you do not become eligible for Medicare for 2 years, or 2 years from the date that they determined you became disabled. When my COBRA ran out I tried to purchase private insurance and was turned down for pre-existing condition. Then I heard about the HIPPA law and used that to get insurance from the very company that turned me down. SSI and medicaid is welfare and not related to SSD and Medicare. (I believe)
