I was just prescribed Nortriptyline. I am scared to take it because it says it causes drowsiness and I am very sensitive to medication. Can anyone tell me how you feel on it when you begin the dose ramp-up ? Thanks !

" it has been a long time but it was like the other "triptolenes." You have to get used to it and work up your dosage slowly.

I too, am very sensitive to medication. "

" This is the first drug that they prescribed when I was diagnosed in 1998. I believe this drug is considered outdated now. I took it for 10 yrs and I didn't know until after I was taken off it, that this med was the cause of the horrible, embarrassing sweating that I had to endure for those 10yrs.

Unless you are depressed, I would fight taking this drug. I hate that when we are first diagnosed that they throw an antidepressant at you. It's like saying "It's all in your head" "

" This was one of the very first meds I tried long ago. I was on it for 3 years and I think I had some relief but not completely. I dont rememberit making me tired but its cousin amitriptaline did. Nortrilyne did how ever give me the very very rare side affect of pernicious annemia which is anemia spured on by a b 12 deficiency. SO if you do take this and notice that you are more run down or are brusing a lot have them check your b 12. I wouldnt not try it because of my experiance I would just be vigalent for the side affect... "
