To explain, so lets start at the beginning !
I was born with asthma, and was on darn medication there was . The thought of running just didnt happen. And the weather was my nightmare. Grew up managed to beat the worst of it so I thought. Even played basketball for 4 years. ( Point Guard ) Thanks to a wonderful coach who taught me asthmatics make the best runners. Had two wonderful children, threw all the stress in life. They are turning out great. Then chest pains begin out of no where, asthma returns and things go down hill. Go to Hospitals time and time again. No one knows what is the cause of the chest pains around my heart and under the arm , then down the arm and cold and numbing effect. ( By the way still no doctor knows what it is ) They say it Pluracy !!! lol. Then at the wonderful age of 30 I get told I have emphasima...and a year later end up on oxygen. When I beat it and havent been on its sense. But to walk more then a couple of blocks was a challange. Then in the year of 2008 a ungodlike pain hit me !! It hit so hard I couldnt move my head. I had to turn from my waist . Was rushed to emergency room. " for years I told my doctor I hurt was told its nothing or stress. I delt with it and went on like every thing else in life . Kept on kicking. The Doctor in the emergency room touched the back of my neck, ( standing ) and instantly I cried and fell to the floor almot. He told me then to see a arthritic doctor. It was like a thousand things at once hit me. I cry now as I write this. I don't know how to cope yet. I learned I have FM, the stage below ostio, extemly low iron, and calsium . Got loaded up on 50,000 mg of Vitamin D, Iorn pills, Lyrica, heartburn medication for acid reflux, sleeping meds, as well as I find out I have RLS ( restless leg syndrom ) I thought my legs just didnt like sitting still . Didnt know it was a medical condition , till now. Oh and Ultram - Tramidol. Then when I think emotionally I have it under control ...I get another wammy. June 19th of 09 , I have a major stroke. I thought it was just a bad headache, but the pain was unbareable. I find out I have a hole in my heart and a blood clot went threw blocking the flow of blood. Effecting the entire right side. I was lucky they said . I ended up with minor side effects ( From looking , nothing is wrong ) But trust Me I notice. 1. how do I go about finding how to control the stress, as well as the pain . I have always had a high pain tolerance. But latly the thought of climbing up stairs with my knees in agony. well is something I dread. To walk hurts. The back pain and neck pain I can handle, ( I ignore it mostly as long as no one touchs me ) . Sorry for the long post ....I guess I needed a release and writing helped. Hi, Melissa! Wow, you have been through alot! No wonder your FM is bad. To help my symptoms, I take some meds....flexeril and relafen help relax muscles and control inflammation. Also help me sleep, which is very important for FM folks. Also heating pads or warm bath or shower, and Pacing myself very carefully.
Hope you find what helps your pain, and HUGS from down south :)

I am sorry you have been through so much. Most of us take a number of meds to make our bodies work. Have you considered Physical Therapy? It helped me.
Hugs, Pam

Hey...those chest pains... Chostochondritis! It's a pretty common symptom of Fibromyalgia. I've had it for almost 3 years now.

Acid reflux, RLS, sleeping disorders... ALL a part of Fibro... the list of symptoms is about a page long.
I know it sucks! I was diagnosed in July 2007. The stress will start to get a little better the more you learn about Fibromyalgia and the more you talk to others who have the same. The stress won't completely go away though.. it's yet another symptom of Fibromyalgia. I'm sorry you are going through this, but I'm so glad you found this site. This will be the beginning of decreasing some of your stress I hope.
