Advice:
pain in the back of my head

View More Posts Ignore
For the past three mos I've been having pain starting in the ligaments?/tendons in the back of my head near my neck that shoots up the side of my head to various places on my forehead or top of my head or side of my head and causes bad headaches that won't go away. I've seen my dr about this, and he said take my muscle relaxant and pain med, and do stretching and relaxation exercises, which I do. This is really getting me down. Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do for it?

" I Do have these pains...and they can be Horrific at times...stalling me out..

My PT Suggested Strengthening my neck muscles...getting them to Relax FIRST was Very Important because Tight muscles are Weak Muscles that Cannot be Strengthened...I relaxed them thru warm water Therapy...and work with those Stretchy bands to increase Strength all the way thru my whole upper back, Neck...this has Helped Immensly...

The other thing is Poor posture...our Muscles become Fatigued quickly when they are Tight...and we tend to have Poor Posture...Make sure your Ears are Up over your Shoulders...Shoulders Relaxed...make sure your Shoulders stay directly Above ur hips...

if you have an Office Job, a job that reqires you to sit alot...then get up and Fully Stretch every so often...bring your hands up over ur head...reach for the ceiling...bring them down, one arm at a time stretch across your chest...using your other hand to pull the stretch a bit deeper...Not to the Point of Pain...back off til any Pain stops...Hold at least 10 seconds each stretch...

I think you will start to Notice Improvement within a couple of weeks by doing these very Simple movements...Light stretches, relaxing...Then Strengthening... "
