" I have been doing some cardio at the gym just to lose maybe 5 pounds!! I gained a lot of weight while on some of the meds and haven't been able to get rid of it! It is a struggle, but lately I have just decided that doing the exercises and trying to eat correctly will be a goal rather than weight loss....I just can't be that "super" model that I have always wanted to be!!! LOL!! I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to look good! Enjoy who you are!!! "

" When I started taking Lyrica, I gained weight pretty steadily for the first 6-8 months. Then it seemed like the gaining just leveled out and stopped. It is hard to lose weight with fibro because you spend a lot of time resting. I tried the health food and exercise. I went back to my regular eating but watched my portion size. Instead of using a big plate at dinner, I use a saucer/dessert size plate and instead of having two bowls of cereal I just have one. I have found that portion control has done wonders for me. I have lost almost 10 pounds. "

" This is not really advice, just acknowledgement of understanding. I have so many issues and not feeling well and resting alot just makes it hard to lose weight. It is my goal to do palates (spelling) and eat healthier. Like it was said in the previous reply, I feel this is the best I can do and I will just have to give up my hopes of a modeling career. I just want to be as healthy as I can, considering....... "

" I have tried hard to do excercises and walking but to no avail.
After much debate, I finally convinced my hubby to buy a WII fit and I am LOVING it. Working out has never been more fun and there is no stress about working at your own pace. Although the initial cost of the WII and then another $90 for the WII fit system, it was WELL worth it in the long run. After 2, hour long sessions (with several breaks in between) I have already dropped 2.6 pounds. There are many different types of workouts to do and there are balance games that really help in that department. My favorite one is the step to music because it's easy to do, follow the steps on the screen and it shows a bunch of WII people doing it with you.
Anyway, I hope this helps or at least gives you a new direction to think in. Good luck "

" I have experienced weight gain with Lyrica. I started taking 'water pills' because a lot of the weight was just water retention. That helped. Also I started to diet to compensate and I found if I just smaller portions I am slowly losing weight. I also wondered if it would be at all possible while taking Lyrica but I think it is. It still is frustrating because when I eat a salty food the retention is worse. However I have something to do about it. "

" as we age it seems harder and harder to lose weight and keep it off. i just don't want to be unhappy about it. need to lose and still trying but with compassion. it's hard to be sick and this week i was totally inactive. felt like fainting every time i got up. had awful sore throat-virus, i guess. will try portion control but don't want it to control my self esteem. hard enough to be getting older. of course the alternative is unspeakable. we do live longer the drs. say when we eat less. i try to eat a lot of fruit and yoghurt. had a burger last week and felt so good. forgot how good meat can make you feel. thinking of having some again.
