Balance problems

My balance has always been bad but lately it's been awful. I'm afraid to take a shower, yesterday I almost fell twice And I don't even have to have my eyes closed (like when I'm rinsing my hair). The other day I was putting something in the garbage can and just started falling over for no reason. I can't walk around something without running into it, bounce off the walls, etc. I know the fibro has a lot to do with it but it's getting so much worse and it's scaring the hell out of me. I told my therapist about it yesterday and he said he's going to give me some excercises to do to help next time I see him, but I was wondering if anyone elses balance is getting worse and if anyone knows why? (Elavaney do you have any info on this?) Thanks, Kellybean

" Hi all, thanks for your responses. I never get dizzy, just fall over (I feel like one of those fainting goats! LOL), run into things, and yes! People too! Everyone laughs at me all the time cuz when we're walking I'm always crashing into them. I've been called a klutz all my life too.
Elavaney, I saw the adernal test and my reults were pretty poor. I'm gonna check out the other website. Thanks! My ears are good and my blood pressure is on the low side, but normal. How much salt do you put in the water when you drink it?
Thanks everyone! ((((((((Hugs!)))))))) "

" Wow, this happens to me too. I can be standing perfectly straight and then just about fall over. It feels quite forceful when it happens and it comes on very quick. Reading the other posts, I have low blood pressure and get dizzy sometimes, but this balance thing is different. Maybe I should take up drinking to match the symptom... "

" I to have this issue. I can be walking along or going to turn around and totally loss my footing. It really sucks because before the Fibro I was so active and doing alot and now I feel like a failure some days cause I can't cook dinner without issues. We all need to stick together to find help with our issues. "

" When my pain, fatigue, migraines, hypo, whatever is bad I am soooo wobbly and dizzy and I thank God for my walking stick daily! No matter how many people make dumb comments and give me rude looks about being 29 and I'm not suppose to need it at this age! As long as I can lean on it when it's really bad!

I use it daily and when it's really bad it's the only thing keeping me upright! HA!

I also have seizures and that adds to being and feeling unbalanced at times!

There are over 40 types of seizures and not all are just violently shaking! Some even cause you to freak out and "look" mad or sad, but you are just having a seizure! Some can make you blank out! Some can just make you twirl your hair or cock your head to one side or frown! There are SOOOOO many different types and you can have more than one type of seizure diagnosed! Some of my little seizures go into big ones and some of my seizures are just little and nothing else! All depends!

This loss of balance can possibly be a seizure called a "drop attack!"

It is where you spontaneously loose "muscle tone!" Meaning you can do anything from frown allot to lean over to one side, to cocking your head, to falling! Anything that involves the muscles throughout your body!

Get checked for seizures to be on the safe side! It's common to have other overlapping diseases along with Fibro!

Also...it is common to have hypoglycemia along with Fibro as well! I have hypo as well and I know when my blood sugar is low I can feel faint and "drunk-like!" When my blood sugar level is too high I also can feel "high!"

It's a good idea to get checked for hypo as well!

Sometimes it is just the Fibro and sometimes it is something else along with the Fibro! You never know until you know!

Take care,
Stay sane! "

" I am the same as Ragingfog. I walked with my sister and ended up pushing against her, she could keep a straight line and I can't! I also stumble like I am drunk, I don't drink so its not that, imagine if I was drunk with that on top!! Its one of the symptoms of fibro. I find I am worse if I have CFS, though its there most days. " I probably put a quarter to a half tsp of salt in a cup of water. It all depends on taste and whatnot. If your body needs the salt, it actually tastes good hard as that is to believe. "
