I was recently Dx, Oct '07 so I'm just gettng a handle on Fibro and chronic fatigue. On Fri I had my gall bladder removed and now I'm recovering from that surgery. Has anyone here recovered from a surgery with fibro? I could use some advise/info to help me.

" well i recently had a c-section in sept of 07. i have a big age gap this one 6mths and the last child 12 years. this section was the best recovery of all my children. i was very nervous it went well. i took ibuprofen thru my recovery of that kind of pain and went back to work when she was 6 weeks. i feel worse now from my fibro/muscle pain that when i had my section.

" I haven't had any surgeries since being dx but I have heard that it can be bad for people who have surgeries so don't feel bad about getting a little more pain meds...Love...Helen "

" I had knee and shoulder surgery last year and the pain with fibro caused me to into a flare after each operation. I am facing (as of Monday) outpatient surgery on my left knee, so will ask for pain meds before coming home. "

" I HAD 6 SHOULDER SUGERIES AFTER MY DX. LIKE GG SAID IT TAKES LONGER TO HEAL. I ALSO NOTICED THAT AFTER EACH ONE I WASNT ABLE TO BOUNCE BACK AS EASILY.

MY BEST ADVICE IS TAKE THE MEDS THEY OFFER AND ALSO REST. DO WHAT THEY SAY DONT OVER DO IT. AND ACCEPT THE HELP THAT IS OFFERED.

GOOD LUCK & HUGS...DoCo "

" I have had so many surgerys that I have lost count including open surgery to remove my gallbladder. All I can say is that it does tend to take longer to get better than most people and you just have to remember that you have more than one thing to cope with. Take it easy and grab any meds they throw at you! "

" Thanks every one. It's been 13 days and I'm still very slow going. The actual wounds are healing fine. I thought I was doing better so yesterday I went to my hair stylist and had a little feeling like I might faint at one point. I didn't, thank God, but I guess that was my body saying I was doing too much. The pain part is better generally speaking. I was given tramadol and that seems to be helping yhe fibro s well. My energy on the other hand is no where to be found.

Your replys have been very helpfull and encouraging for me. Thanks one and all. And God bless. "

" I have Fibro and I had a couple of surgeries lately , recovered from the surgeries but still have the Fibro, think it stays with you for life. I have had symptoms since I was about 19 over 4 decades ago. But was diagnosed 6 years ago. Keep up your chin, you will do alright. Just take care of yourself....do that for you. I will keep you in my prayers. Love Rachel "

" I had two knee surgeries last year, both torn meniscus with one knee with a cyst and a fractured femur. I was on crutches with one knee for 4 months and gained weight. My boyfriend broke up with me after almost 3 years. Oh well, he can take a hike. But, my fibro is pretty much under control, so I did fine with my surgery. I hardly have flare ups anymore. But always check your adrenals and your thyroid. "
