Hi all I was told I have NASH in the moderate to server stage after requesting a biopsy be preformed during the surgery I had on the 24th of August for the removal of my left adrneal gland. Due to 2 hyperplasia tumors.

Has anyone else had a biopsy for the fatty liver and what type of diets are working to lose weight? My dr told me I need to get crazy and lose a lot of weight over the next 6 months.

" I am new here, and just diagnosed with enlarged fatty liver.
I can't seem to find the "post" area, so I am doing a "reply" in order to find out how to post !! Sorry if that is a no-no.

I have some questions, as to others symptoms. And would like some menu ideas from other sufferers.
Thanks !
Janabelle "

" I had NASH. I had a terrible time trying to follow a diet as I just did not feel good and didn't have the strength to fight it. The Dr's did not feel my NASH was caused by fatty liver though. I think part of the reason I had a hard time following a diet was due to encephalopathy (high ammonia level). Talking to others I learned some have followed a Weight Watchers diet, TOPS, Jenny Craig. The best thing to do is to watch your sodium. There are many good products that have little or no sodium. If you have a Lean Cuisine or something like that - keep the sodium around 600 or below. That's what my Dr's said. Since my transplant (2/2009) I have been trying to follow a balanced diet and watch my sodium. Best of luck to you!! "

" Hi Jackie and Suzes,

Thanks for the replies !
I am newly diagnosed with Nafld. I was soo sick for weeks, and am now feeling much better. I have watched my salt, fat, sugar, etc. and think I was not as sick as some, to begin with.( but I sure thought I was bad ! )
I have looked up menus and diets, and there isn't much help out there. A friend said the Atkins. I guess it is just do what you can. I am lucky in that I like veggies and fruits ! But, I love pastas !
I had an endoscopy today, but don't see the Dr till the 23rd.
I am also having night time panic attacks. Have a bipap, too. I think I am just an old lady who can't take all the "surprises" of life, as easily as I used to !
Well, keep talking --- I really enjoy reading the posts. ( I am 74 going on 54 ). Thanks, and enjoy what you can !
