Over the past few months I have been treated for bile duct problems in the pancreas however my pain has come back especially when I stand for long periods of time. Alkaline P 126, MCV 87,BILIRUBIN, Red cells and White Blood count. I am starting to wonder why they are looking more at my liver instead of my pancreas. Years ago a gastro doctor told me I possibly could have fatty liver. I had Hepatitis when I was a kid, the kind you can catch and I am a recovering alcoholic. I also have diverticulitis so I am kinda stuck..need feedback

ALP is related to bone damage- have you had any broken bones lately? I had mine done in ER after an infection 3 weeks after surgery (which turned out not to be in my surgical incisions!) It was over 300, and the doc didn't know why - I googled it and it was obvious what the cause was. Docs don't know everything!
You need to find out your ALT. Keep track of it, get a liver scan. Don't bother with a biopsy - too painful and doesn't tell much more than blood tests and scans. Unless there is real pain, and some kind of elevated white blood cells indicating the possibility of infection or cancer. Finally, lose weight slowly, never take a drink again. I haven't had a drink in 30 years, but knowing I can't makes it harder. I never used to want to drink, now I feel deprived because I can't have one, even though I don't want one. LOL. How strange the brain is. Also - exercise! 6 days a week - build up the muscles with weights - start with free weights 2 lbs, then 5 - 8, 10 - I am up to 12. (There are lots of books which give you exercises you can do with free weights. The muscles help you lose weight faster, and they look nicer than fat. Start with short walks - build it slowly. Consistency is more important than length. My oldest son was 100 lbs overweight. He started on a cross trainer doing 1 minute. I talked to him when he was up to 6 minutes. I was riding an hour a day, and could hardly see the point. This year he ran his first marathon, and has lost 100 lbs. Wow! If your knees or something hurt - try a bike. Don't let pain be an excuse not to exercise. I work out with a cast on my foot and terrible RA pain. I feel worse when I don't! Good luck - do all the research you can on line, and consult another doc if you can. It's a battle you need to win.
