I am on week three of juicing and until I was naughty on Mothers Day (I had lemonade, cake and a bit of ice cream, OMG it was so good) I felt fantastic, then Monday when I woke up I felt like heck. Terrible, I only had a bit of juice on sunday, oh and I had a PB&Honey sandwich and I feel that all that sugar and fat just hurt me and my wonderful progress.
I am going tomorrow to get more celery, lots more celery, more carrots, pears apples and more. I loved every drop of it and cant wait to make more. It is worth all the work, I say make more than enough, then rinse everything and leave it ready for the next time. Also take a few spoons of the stuff and stir it in the juice. I am composting the stuff that is left over and I am not kidding it heats up in less than a day, it is amazing. I have lost 11 pounds now, it goes up and down at first, and I felt tired for the first couple of days, but that could be from the Hep C, or the fact I am weaning off of narcotic pain meds. My fav recipe is 5 large carrots, 1 pear, one apple and OMG it tastes like candy.. Let me know which is your favorite, I didnt get a book with mine. Cynthia

Hi! I am going strong, how are you doing? Did you like the juices? I was told that I should go easy on the beets, they are very strong, but I like them... I am all weaned off all of the drugs now and feel better now, I love the juice, and when I wake up I crave it now, that is strange, I have now lost 17 pounds, I messed up and gained some back but I ran out of all the fruits and vegetables and got busy, but I am back on track... I love the way it makes me feel...
How is it going for you? Any helpful tips?

Yes we juice! It's a great way to get the vitamins and antioxidants into your diet. If you use a juicer that uses most of the fruit or veggie, like Jack LaLane's juicer you get even more benefits including fiber that is very important.
Have fun with it too. Mines been in hibernation for a few months and you have sparked energy in me to pull it out and use it. The only thing I might add is that you may want to get a book or a basic list of foods and their glycemic index. It's a measure of how much simple carbohydrates a food puts in your system. Carrots are yummy because they have a lot of sugar in them, therefore their Glycemic is higher. Strawberries and blueberries are high in fiber and low on the glycemic index. Following some Glycemic guidelines may actually help you lose more weight even faster. Happy juicing, jilly

Hi, JT, I am losing weight mostly because I have stopped having steriod shots into my spine, stopped taking heavy pain killers that slow everything down and because they put me on pure morphine I am actually feeling better enough to start moving around. I over did it the first few days plus had to be adjusted because I felt terrible, I love carrots in my apple juice but I have started cutting back on the carrots so I can put in new things like celery, spinach, broccolli and just try new things, I weighed again today and I am losing about a pound a day sometimes more, sometimes less, and I do not know why.
I started pretty thin, I was 110 when I was hit by the drunk driver, I got up to 220 on the first series of steriod shots, then it came off. I then got up over 275 the second series and then got down to 140, on the third forth and the rest of the series I just kept growing larger and I believe I got up well over 300 pounds. I was 255 last time I weighed (April 20,th) and I am sure it will slow down or go in cycles. I know how much this weight slows me down too, heck I dont even want to go out of the house until I am back around 150 or so, but that is impossible. The only thing I have ever eaten bad was ice cream because it coated my stomach and stopped the severe acid intigestion and brought the heat down too. I have stopped that know that I know how bad it is for the liver, and I miss it, but oh well. I am hoping to go back to the dr and then faint and say "We have never seen anything like this before"... "you are cured" I can hope anyway. I am going to start swimming areobic classes this coming week and hopefully that will strengthen things up so I will have a bit more endurance. I would love to have a sweet juice for breakfast, a savory one for lunch, then a salad and a calming one for evening, one that would allow me to sleep better. good luck, let me know how you are doing with your challenges. Paindora

Hi all,
I have diab type 2 and have to watch carbs and of course sugar is verbotten. I have a food processor and as I'm reading through the threads it sounds like this is a great way to lose weight. Is there a particularly good juicing book out there to help me? Carots are yummy but also too high in sugars. I'm having to re-learn how to eat. Thanks.

Sandra Cabot has a good book on juicing called "Raw Juices Can Save Your Life". It is very helpful especially for us fatty liver sufferers.
