I found out with in the last year through a Ct scan that I had a fatty liver. The doctor stated that the only way you would get this is through alcohol which is not the case. Mine is non alcoholic fatty liver and the enzymes are not elevated which would indicate being overwieght. Apparently, the doctors see this when someone has just given birth. Doctors are baffled. Does anyone battle this?

I have found out that I have a fatty liver. The doctor said it was all from the medication I am taking. I really do not listen to doctors alot. I mostly go to wabmd.com just to look to make sure the doctors are giving the right information.

Frustrating isn't it. I haven't drank much since I was 21. Couple a year if even. And I have never been able to have children, so hmm..... I was always thin, active, ate properly, until I began to not feel good. And then the Dr. told me I caused this whole thing myself by not taking care of myself. Guess what! We found a new Dr.

I was told I had a somewhat fatty liver and gradually lost one lb a week losing more would cause more damage. So dont eat carbs and exercise more. Ok, I was doing good lost 25 lbs then dad died, stressed kicked in, fibro kicked in the worse and I gained back more then I lost. So now leg pain, but back to trying to eat healthier.
Infact I hate going back to my gastrologist in Jan feel like I have failed again which I have. Lets just try to remember to stay away from carbs and walk alittle more or stretch or do something to help. A pharmacist told me though once you have a fatty liver that he thinks you always have one,. I bought milk thistle and took it a couple times. Not sure if I should since I have allergies. Lord help us all. DD

Thanks for all the advice. DOes this indicate potential liver disease if you have fatty liver? Also my liver enzymes are normal, so what would cause fatty liver if they are normal lab results?

I have non alcoholic fatty tissue liver disease. After ultrasounds and a biopsy the GI told me what was going on. My abdomen was tender and I felt like I was growing something...scared to death.
GI doc says many people have fatty liver tissue and try to lose weight, get cholesterol to normal (it was high), get triglicerides to normal, yada yada. I had neck, back, hip injuries and the doctors gave me a bag-o-pills for about 1.5 years. My weight ballooned to 180 (I'm 5') and that's when my internals started to go haywire. I think taking all those pain meds (Tramodol, Soma, 1000 Ibuprophen, Hydrocone) caused some of my problems. Now I never, ever take pain meds, even Tylenol... but due to PTSD I take Effexor and anti-anxiety meds when needed. I can't afford the meds now as Medicare D has been maxed ($2700 limit per year). I need to take Actos & Crestor. I'm sorry ... tonight I am all over the place trying to glean information here. Tonight my internal health finally dawned on me. Weird that it just now hit me in the face.

I also have a fatty liver and hardly ever had an alcoholic beverage. Maybe half a dozen glasses of wine over thirty years. I believe mine was caused by poor diet and being overweight. It can be reversed. A good book is Sandra Cabot's liver book. It answers a lot of questions and is really helpful.

I have never heard of this dizzie lizzie. Generally you don't even know you have a fatty liver until tests reveal it. I would see the doctor about the pains. It is more likely to be something else.
