Help understanding cancer counts...

My sister has been fighting breast cancer for the past 6 years. Yesterday she was talking to her doctor and he told her that her "cancer counts" had jumped from 60 to 120. Obviously that is bad but I don't know what the scale is to determine how bad it is. If the "scale" is from 1 - 1,000 then that is different a scale of 1 - 150. And, what does the number represent? How fast the cancer is spreading, how much cancer is there, something else?

Thank you for your insight.

" I can't help you with this. But could you ask your sister? My mum has cancer and says she doesn't mind us asking her anything. I think it helps since it is best to feel able to talk about cancer rather than having it looming like an elephant in the room, never mentioned. It is also important since there are a lot of meds and tests, and people with cancer may feel too ill to keep on top of them all so it helps if as many of their close family as possible understand about management of their condition. " I'm sorry to hear about your sister. There are so many counts I would ask your sister. My daughter has leukemia and some of the counts we look at are her WBC (white blood cells) her platelets and her hemoglobin. "
