I haven't spoken to my mother in almost a month. I want to know if she is still alive (constant threats of suicide) but I don't want to contact her. It hurts too much.

You could possibly have the police or, depending on her age, have adult and family services/senior services do a checkup on her.
If you really do not want her to know it was you, you could call from a payphone and pose as a concerned neighbor or old friend telling them she has threatened suicide in the past.

If I do that I know she'll know it's me. I suppose I just have to let it hurt and whatever happens happens...

I have not talked to my mother in 8 years. My thing is very different though. I think this is not good for you to have on you mind. It just eats away at you. I like Carina's Ideas have a friend call from a pay phone and just ask for a name she dosent know. I have had to do this with other people. take care and find a way to have some one see that she is ok.
