there is NO naranon meeting held anywhere within a 1 1/2 hours drive from me which i and the "info" lady thinks is just ridiculous considering i live in a city (capitol city). She flat out asked me if i wanted to start a group because she was so shocked too....i am tempted to but scared. it is such a commitment and i have 3 young kids and work. i wanted to sign the kids up for sunday school and i had to opt out since i work til anywhere from 12am-2am the night before. yeah thats the sad part i feel so at home with addicts i have been a bartender for 6 years but i do not drink while working because i can not and will not have the DWI plus you either join them or rise above and i rose above! as i have said before i feel left out so i make up for it i guess by me being a bartender maybe the junkie crowd (my family)wont think of me as a prude!
i really try everything to fit in except becoming a junkie or even trying it! i am already looking for a career since being a bartender does not accomplish much plus i have been really negative about my job for the last 2 years. if my husband made enough i would have quit along time ago!

" Naranon or Alanon they are both similar. I agree with you, will you have the extra time it takes to run a meeting. Also I know in my area Naranon didn't make it mainly because most spouses divorce their addict and even in Alanon the ages of the ladies in my area are 50 and up and always the same 5 ladies , occasionally someone new would come. One lady I know was begging me to come to a meeting, yes it helped in the beginning but why go to it AH and I are separated and we are divorcing. Times are changing and personnally I think 12 steps needs to up date. Parents don't care about what they can do to help themselves they want to know how to help their child. Younger adults are different most are not spiritual. "
