i was chatting with my cousin tonight and telling him of the recent and on going problems with my immediate family (brother,mom,dad,sis in law) and their ongoing addictions (parents since before my birth 29 years ago) (bro and SIL maybe 14-18 years)....he mentioned an intervention....i was so grateful someone in my family was on the same page so for shits and giggles and most important hope i applied online to the intervention on A&E.....Has anyone on here done that before? yes i need hop but not false hope!

I haven't, but want to if there is one for alcoholics. I don't know what channel but there is a reality show called intervention on cable. If you can, watch it. Seems it helps

good luck. my family did an intervention (not through a TV show) on my sister. we hired an interventionist. he was great, but the intervention did not work. her husband was not really on board, and then my sister went to rehab, but left early and my mom did not give any consequences so it did not work at all. i do not talk to my sis anymore because it just got worse and i am keeping up with my consequences. either way, there needs to be consequences to the addicts that you need to be prepared to keep. i am happier since i came to DS and learned things from al-anon and i don't let her drama/prolems affect my life.

i've never done it but I love that show. It's just that I don't know what to do with my family members anymore I'm pretty much powerless in that situation. The problem I'm having is accepting that I'm powerless. Good Luck. Please Keep me informed.

so far i have heard NOTHING and really not expecting to. i mean think if they have to fit in four people to a one hour show ....its not going to happen!. even like LAC...if i were to hire a interventionist i really dont think they would work. the four have each other to feed into each other. they are their own family so to speak. like i have said so many time i am the outcast because i am sober. i have suffered greatly from their failures and thus really feel like a failure because i do not have an addiction to blame...yeah a family of addicts and other than my personal family they are all i have. my own family life is not the greatest and i wish i had someone to turn to! guess thats why i am here......i am not a junkie but i feel trapped in the world of one!
