ritalin abuse

My husband was abusing cocaine. The cocaine, abuse, to the best of my knowledge, had stopped around May or June of this year. I thought he was clean, but to my surprise (well, not really a surprise), I believe he may be abusing ritalin.

His behavior has been absolutely fine, (gets up every day and goes to work, spends time with family, is currently trying to loose weight and eat healthy, has not been abusive to me, goes for a walk with me and dogs every night, does not spend countless hrs on his laptop, does not isolate himself from the family, helps kids with homework, hasnt been working late, etc..),he just has trouble falling asleep.

What do i need to watch out for if he is indeed abusing ritalin? Oh, what makes me beleive he is is tabusing ritalin is that he cant seem to fall aslpeep most nights, and that i found a note he wrote to himself to "order RID"..(he must be ordring it on the internet). He is a bad speller and i believe rid is short for ritalin. Also, a few yrs ago i found a bottle in his home office.

thanks.

" My ex still fuctions "normal" even though he is still using cocaine every day, they can put on this act when they need to.
Ritalin will be replacing his cocaine for now, it has the same affect as amphetamins (restless, insomnia) he will be switching drugs, for now! He will eventually return to to cocaine. "

" when he was using coke..he didnt function normally..he would go to work al most every day, but there wre other things he did when using, that i noticed. these behaviors have stopped.

How can u be so sure he will go back to using cocaine? Before coke, he was using oxycontin....he never went back to that. BUt if he does start using coke again, Ill know the signs.

THis is so ridiculous..here i was thinking that maybe he was able to stop using cold turkey. I am so sad. I dont want to go back to being in that dark hole of depression again. I hate life. It just isnt fair. I have to constantly deal with this. I can never feel safe or at ease. I have no backbone to confront him on it either, because i know it will lead nowhere. It will only cause issues that i am not willing to deal with at the moment.

When I am in denial, i feel better. I dont want to go back to the dark hole. Im scared. I dont want ot leave him and my marriage and break up thefamily. I cant deal with reality. Meetings havent helped me get stronger either. "

" I am assuming he got them on the net because he has gotten other drugs there and he doesnt have ADD or ADHD so he couldnt get it from a dr. Im sure there are ways to get it on the internet, although, where would they be coming to....they havent been delivered to the house and i dont think he would risk having it delivered to his work, although, maybe im wrong about that. I also dont know where they are.

He doesnt seem like he is on speed at all.....maybe he takes it in the morning only and it wears off by the time he comes home from work. He also used to work late when doing coke because of how it made him feel--alert, etc.....and now he is coming home pretty early.. maybe im wrong about it...thats why i wanted to know other symptoms and what to look out for. " As you know 85% of addicts are self-medicating. Among the cocktail of medications my son was put on for his cocaine addiction - was
Modafinil. he stayed clean for almost a year. worked out, was not depressed and ultimately my view was it's better that him doing cocaine. Though he isn't ADHD or ADD, he does have Bipolar and Scitzo... which with the "noise" in his head, made it hard for him to pay attention and get anything done. Thus he was diagnosed as ADHD...
Modafiinil is not addictive and it also prevents a cocaine user from getting high if they relapse. Google - modafinil and cocaine.
Perhaps Ritalin has the same effect. "

" Are you positive he doesn't have ADHD I was surprise to find out my AH does have ADHD and needs to get help. The drugs quiet their minds so they can function. He may be self medicating and he see is as working. Ritalin is one of the drugs they used to give patients my sisters son was on it. "
