a dear friend of mine lost his brother to suicide years ago, in his present state its even harder for him now to cope with it then it was after his death because now he starting to forget those memories. He doesnt know what to do or how to begin to let his pain go and I cant offer any words because I dont know to say at all. If you all could tell me your stories and what helped you cope Id really love that.

" Look for a "Survivors of Suicide" support group in his area. This group has been very helpful for me. Everyone who attends has lost a loved one to suicide. Prayers for you both, Debbie "

" it's also been very, very helpful to me to write down memories. and doing that tends to bring up more memories. also, a scrapbook. and if he already has one - maybe re-organize it.

are there any relatives thazt he talks with, or can talk with, about shared and indiv memories? "

" There is a book by Carla Fines and it has so many stories on each person's experience with suicide. I found it tremendously helpful. Each person mourns so differently, and I think that hearing other people's good memories about my husband helped me to feel better.

Perhaps if you go through some old pictures together and write down or record all the memories that come to mind, so that later on when they are not as clear they can be pulled out again.

It is nice that they have you to support him through this difficult time. "
