My Dad, age 67, was just diagnosed. He has stage III adenocarcinoma. Right now he is going to Barnes in St. Louis. We were wondering if there are any cancer treatment centers that see a higher number of patients with esophageal cancer. Since this cancer is rarer than others, it may make some sense to see if there is a center that has more experience with it than others?

" I had mine done local to me (Ohio), so I can't give you the information you are asking myself, but you might try doing a search for esophageal cancer top hospital treatment and you may find some answers there? Otherwise, someone else may know on this board.

Tell your Dad I had the same thing and had chemo/radiation Sept. '08 and surgery Nov. '09 and am almost a year post-surgery and doing very well. God bless. Brenda "

" My husband went to National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland. They were so compasionate and took such great care of him. They have people from all over the world that come there for the latest in treatments. You can get information off the web and there will be numbers to contact doctors in that speciality for treatment options. My husband was too far advanced but he never gave up hope. Where ever you choose to go I wish you the very best and you fight it with all you have. Please take care and get on the internet there is so much out there now to help take advantage of it. Wishing you the very best and take care. "
