" I will try to get him on the computer tonight so he can share more with you. He was dx.d in July of 08. He had chemo/radiation and then surgery at the end of Nov 08. Had a rough post op but finally got home in Feb. And is now off his j-tube,eating food and his las CT scan was clear. Because he was stage 3, it's only a matter of time before it spreads to something but we don't know when that will happen. Do you have someone at home with you? Darryl likes to talk sometimes, and I'm there when he does, but like most men, he keeps rather quiet. I can tell he is still scared but he comfortable right now at home. Hope you have someone and I'll try to get him on the computer. As you can tell, he does not but I do because this disease is nasty and I needed help. Good luck, and keep in touch. What are you options? "

" I will definately get Darryl to talk to you. He received great comfort from saying the rosary, which he hasn't said for many years. He is convinced he got help when he was on the verge of losing a grip. He's home all day too, maybe, he'll get on this new fangled item called a computer......ha,,ha... "

" Hi Mike, My husband at age 42 was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer in March 2008. He was told he was not a candidate for radiation or surgery--just chemotherapy, basically pallative measures. However, in June 2008, after 3 months of chemotherapy generally used in colon cancer, the cancer had gone into complete remission! In Mar 2009 we discovered through an endoscopy, the cancer had returned to the original site in the esophagus. We found a surgeon at the University of MI who would perform a Transhiatial Esophectomy. Surgery was July 2009. The 14 lymph nodes taken during surgery all came back negative. I writing to let you know there is Hope. If the doctors you are currently seeing aren't giving you any, find those that will. It is all we have. At the initial diagnosis he was given 2 months to live. It's now been 18 months. God bless you and your loved ones! "

" Thank you for the email. i am not giving up by any means and feel any disease is beatable. I plan on going for another doctor/opinion if my current doctor does not want to let me be involved in my treatment process. God Bless you and your husband and keep me posted.
