I was DX with a T3N1M0 back in January of this year, I went through 28 days radiation and 6 weeks of chemo plus the this new drug call Her2. in may i had a PET Scan done and showed no signs of spreading or cancer, so i went for surgery June 7. the results from the surgery was as follows, clear margins tumor had shrunk but still had some cancer cells, took out 14 lymph nodes one has small sigh of cancer cells in took out everything
now i start july 2 with the follow up with chemo of the her2 drug for every 21 days for 10 months. I guess my point is can any one tell what this out come seems good or bad.

thanks

" Yes, Tom - I think this is a good outcome. You're throwing everything you can at the beast and it sounds like you're winning! Good job!

My hubby was stage 3, had his surgery first, then the radiation and chemo. His plan of attack has been excellent diet, workouts on a bowflex every morning, 30 minutes of dog walking twice a day and we've quit smoking.

There's no "cure" for cancer (at least none that they've release yet because that would bankrupt the pharmaceuticals....grrr, don't get me started!) but we firmly believe that positive attitude, lifestyle changes and strong determination is what will get us all through this terrifying disease!

Keep putting one foot in front of the other and stay positive!

" Hi Tom. I was diagnosed as Stage 3 July 2008. I guess T3N1MO too. I was in a study of particular drugs. When I had my surgery and the pathology report came back 2 of 12 nodes had a microscopic live cell. Course they were removed along with the portion of esophagus & stomach they were removing. You can read my journal. I think it's a good idea to do as your docs say with the follow-up chemo. Mine didn't have me do that, but again I took different drugs & doses than you. I'm doing really well and it's been 4 years since diagnosis. I just had clean scan & scope this month, so won't need to do it again for a year, if I continue to have no problems. I wish you the best & I would focus on a good outcome, because I know it happened for me and many others on the board. Staying in the moment is a great idea. I'm sure you're relieved to have the surgery done and starting that healing process. I'll send you a friend request to check out my journal. Brenda "
