Ok here goes..... i was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago and have gone though all the testing so far. the endoscope with the biopsy, cat scan with contrast, endo with ultra sound, pet scan (woof woof meow meow) . I have a "early" stage 2 tumor at the junction of the stomach and the esophagus. It has just started to enter the wall of the esophagus. The pet scan showed that the cancer is contained within the tumor and has not spread to any other organs or the lymph nodes.. small or large. I am meeting with 2 drs in NY on monday then tuesday going to have the port installed and then my first chemo treatment on Wednesday. The last three weeks have been such a whirlwind and roller coaster ride and feel so numb and shocked and not sure of anything. My G.I has been great in helping us get the ball rolling and finding the right drs. I am scared to death (pardon the pun) and know how serious this is and also how aggressive this can be too. I know I cant make any mistakes with getting the ball going and feel that so far that we are on the right path. I am wondering though and please forgive me cause i dont know if i am going to say this right but I am wondering if there is anyone out there that can tell me the surival rate and if there is anyone out here that ha been cancer free after treatments and surgery. I as everyone else that is new is looking for that thread to hold tight too and know that this fight is a fight that we can win or beat into submission and there is support from someone that is going thru this too....... I am a fighter and in the "just do it" mode and think about it later. but i need to know if there is more "do it" or not I guess...

Hi David in New Zealand! I'm so glad you posted and wish more EC survivors with years of clean scans would post. It does let us realize that there are people with EC that can enjoy life post EC treatment and surgery. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I didn't have the Ivor Lewis surgery but the THE. I'm 3.5 years cancer free and due for my scope/scan next month. Praying I'll still remain cancer free. Thanks again for sharing your EC post surgery longevity! Awesome!
