I haven't been on a plane since my seizures started and I know barometric and altitude changes can cause me to have seizures and confused states.

I'm kind of concerned and this may be a silly question but it's not possible for me to do any kind of damage by going on a plane is there?

I already anticipate being pretty out of it and possibly sick since plane rides have never made me feel the best. But I will have my boyfriend with me and that eases my mind a lot.

Does anyone know anything about people with seizures and airplane rides?

I have no other choice but to get on it if I want to get back to where my boyfriend lives....and I really want that more than anything.

" Hello Jenn,

Have you time to talk w/ your DR about this? He mite be able to subscribe a 'relaxer' for the ride. Or you can ask about & practice a few breathing exercises that will help. Wear your medic alert bracelet & be sure to inform an attendant of your situation. It's good that your BF will be w/ you. He can handle 'seizure 1st aid' if needed. :) But, he may need assistance, so don't be too stubborn about telling an attendant. :)

I have flown B4 w/ no problems. I hope you have a safe & enjoyable flight. Just keep telling yourself "I CAN DO IT!" :) YOU CAN DO IT! :)

" I'm lacking a doctor at the moment...waiting to get medical assistance :/

If all else fails, Benadryl will knock me out so we're going to bring some :)

I think I'll be ok and I have been thinking about how I can just do what I usually do to calm myself.

I'm going to tell the flight attendants so that no one gets freaked out or anything if I should seize. My boyfriend keeps assuring me I'll be alright too so that is helpful.

Thank you for your reply! "

" Are you afraid of having a seizure or afraid of flying? I have also flown many times without having any problems.

Before taking benadryl, talk with your doctor and/or pharmacist about it. It took me a few years to figure it out, but any type of cold or allergy medications do knock me out but also throw me into seizures. I finally asked my pharmacist and he looked at the meds I was taking and said that could be what was causing them at that time. I usually have 1-2 seizures once or twice a month, but when I was taking the benadryl, I was having 5-8. "

" Take exta medication before getting on the plane and get extra sleep, you most likely get sick few hours after being off the plane or the next day that why take the extra medication and extra sleep to compusate for the problems, bring chewing gum for on the plane for the ear popping and pressure even ear plugs. " I did just fine on the plane :)

Unfortunately, I caught a bit of a cold :(

But I'm in Florida safe and sound....

it was very disheartening how no one would help my boyfriend and I through the airports. We were very shocked about that considering I had my wheelchair and everything.

But we somehow managed and made it safely.

" Glad to hear you arrived safely. How rude of the airport not to assist you. :( Things sure have changed over the yrs.

ENJOY Florida. :) HUGS!
