hi all! I joined other groups on here for other reasons but i'll get straight to the point. i was diagnosed when i was 4 with petit mal. i "grew out it" by 12 and have been off meds ever since. I am now 30 yrs old. I have had migraines all my life but off and on. At 17 i started having extremly severe headaches. I waited two weeks in excruiating pain (i was dumb) before going to a doctor. I spent many years after going to different neurologists and having many tests and different meds. Finally i was diagnosed with a mix of migraine and tension headaches. I stopped going to the doc becuase i no longer had insurance and nothing seemed to be working. I know have experienced some stress recently in my mother having cancer (she is good now) and me dealing with alot of things. Now I am doing some things that are uncharacteristic of me and scare me and i think i may be having seizures again. I used to have the abscence kind. I am going to make an appt soon but thought does anyone here know if someone had petit mal (my first seizure was at birth though diagnosed 4 yrs later) and "outgrew it" can they have absence or other types of seizures in adulthood? i just want to know if it is possible because i was under the impression it wasn't thanks ND

" Yes, seizures in adulthood are definitely possible, especially if someone had them in childhood. How would you like help both your seizures and headaches? They sound to me like they are from the same cause, not one usually recognized by most MD's. I am writing this because I am an Upper Cervical Chiropractor and I know from experience that there is a possible answer here. If the brain/spinal cord connection is not an ideal, 2 common symptoms are migraine HA (and cluster or tension HA) and seizures. For help, check out the website http://www.upcspine.com . It gives doctors in many geographic areas. GOOD LUCK!!!! "

" Thanks for responding so quickly! Intersting. I am still a bit confused. I'm not sure I understand what the HA stands for. Also, I do not have insurance and am a full time student working two part time jobs. I have called and made an appointment at my local free clinic, but not really sure when I can get in or what to say. Also, I have always had neck problems since i was little. I went to a Chiropracter for it when I was somewhere in my early 20's and when they xrayed my neck he told me it was slightly bent as if i tried to walk too straight. It didn't much help and i stopped after 3 months. I would also like to know more about the conncetion between the brain spinal cord and the possible indications. I don't know much about it. Also what does one normally do, meds and therapy either or or what? Thanks for all the help. I also thought it could be seizures because I've had a ton of stress since jan and i know stress can bring it on. thanks. ND "

" I had one seizure when I was 6 months old. When I was 25, I was at work and woke up in the emergency room with my parents standing next to me. It wasn't until I started realizing the feeling of an aura, I can remember back to when I was 12 and again in my late teens having that same feeling. I would have the aura and need to lay down and take a nap. Apparently no one ever saw me have a seizure.

My seizures are mostly related to hormones but stress and sugar levels may trigger them in me also. "
