I saw a Neurologist yesterday and he was basically sitting in for my current Neurologist. They have noticed that my medication, especially Epilim is affecting my weight.

I become breathless I told him and he took my blood pressure and this was not normal.

I have a healthy diet but the weight increases. I do not want to be overweight. I feel my Epilepsy is in a fight against my weight. I feel I may have a heart attack and people may think I am having a seizure. I fear for my health.

" I was asked if I knew anything about Vimpat or as known as Lacosamide, a drug that I take. A good new drug that has just come on the market but it does have the following Side Effects:

1 in 10: dizziness.headache, nausea, double vision (Diplipia)
1 in 10 - 100: problems in keeping your balance, difficulties in coordinatiing your movements, troubles with memory, sleepiness, shaking, trouble thinking or finding words and uncontrollable movements of the eyes (nystagmus), blurred vision, vertigo, vomiting, constipation, itching, fall, tiredness, difficulties in walking, unusual tiedness and weakness (asthenia) and depression.

I now have to go and see a Cardiologist to be on the safe side in case this is effecting my heart.

I hope that this was of some use "

" I've been on Tegretol for 7 years now, Topomax for 7 years, Lyrica for about 6 years, and I've just started on Depakote within the past 3 months. I must say my weight has been incredibly insanely high since getting on them all, especially the Depakote! I can not lose any at all! But my doctor says that as long as the medicine is helping prevent as many seizures as possible, then I need to deal with the horrid side effect of weight gain. "
