Horrible memory problems

Hey everyone, not feeling to good today. Over this past month, it seems that with each day, my memory is getting worse. The problem I'm having, is that I don't know if I am having seizures, or if it is a side effect to meds. I only take 2 meds for my Epilepsy Carbatrol 300 mg 4 x's a day and 1 keppra xr 500 mg. I am on alot of 'other' meds for other problems I have as well. I take 7 prescriptions all together.

When the memory problems happen, I space out so very bad. I am forgeting serious things, like food cooking, taking my meds, that I was supposed to do something and when this happens, I I can't even remember what I wanted to say now. Maybe I should call the doc....

Thank you foro 'listening'

" You can also ask your pharmacist if any of the other medications can cause this reaction. I too have noticed that I get forgetful, but usually it is not important issues. Sometimes, forget what I had just heard on the news, I need to watch movies 4-5 times before I can remember them, etc.

As far as your medications, I can give you a good suggestion that has worked for me. If you have a cell phone, set the alarm for the times that you need to take them. If not, buy an alarm clock or 2 and set the times for when you are at home. I am guessing when you go out you usually have someone with you that can help you remember to take them.

Good luck to you.

" I use a drugs wallet so I can see if I've already taken medication and therefore can't overdose. If you don't already do this, I'd recommend it. Also, when I was on Keppra myself, I had terrible psychological side effect and went back to the doc's. I think it's best you do the same, just in case. "

" It does sound like siezures or siezure activity. I know mine will effect me like what you are discribing at times. You should get in touch with your doctor and discuss it with him. "

" Thats what I figured! I see the doc Sept 15th...gosh I hate to wait that long but I am feeling a lot better now. I usually get auras and partials around my cycle even with my VNS. They are a lot better than tonic clonics I used to get according to my husband...however, because I don't lose contiousness, its more scarry for me now, and my husband barely notices! Thanks everyone! "

" "HI THERE"
I have terrible short-term memory loss due to seizures.Ask me things from years ago and I can remember no probs, but something that has been said a moment ago or recently I'm useless.
After a seizure my memory is bad for about two days,it's not crash hot other times either due to being on meds for about fifteen years. "

" My memory has gotten progressively worse over the years. Basically, I had to learn how to learn differently. When I went back to college, I couldn't just cram for things like I did prior to the onset of my seizure disorder. I don't really suspect side effects from meds, but I do know how close my seizure activity is to the area of my brain where memory is. Long term, short term, it is pretty bad after 15+ years of seizures. But I did not start meds for seizure control for almost two years after the first seizure, so I sometimes wonder if had I gone to my doctor sooner and gotten them under better control sooner, would my memory still be this bad? Who knows? I have adapted, and am probably a better organized person for it. "

" Are you home alone? Is there anyone around who can observe you and know for sure what's happening?

Best wishes,
Linda "
