Phenobarbital is one of three siezure meds. I take.
I was just wondering if it was precribed very often any more and if so how are people's experiences on it. Posted on 06/08/08, 04:06 am |

Pheno was one of the very first meds I took when I first began seizing. It made me feel drowsy, and nauseous.I was lethargic for the most part.It tasted like chalk, and the liquid was worse. I was then given Tegretol which had similar effects, though not as bad. As time went on, I relocated and was then told by new MD phenobarbital AND tegretol were becoming outdated and discouraged from use, because of it's perceived long term side effect-liver disease. Yet, those were actually the medicines which worked the best and for the longest amount of time.
