I'm very recently diagnosed with epilepsy due to haveing numerous seizures. After all tests were completed we found out that my heart slows down severly when i have a seizure putting me at great risk of cardiac arrest during a seizure. I'm only 19 and I'm terrified. I have them in my sleep all the time and when im awake. Also, i never remember what i was doing before the seizure and im in constant pain. Is this stuff normal? I just feel like im alone in all of this cause my family has just never really cared about me period. I'm just really really scared and i dont know where to turn for help.

" no, you are not alone in this big world. things to keep in mind is that those who are effected by some type of seizure disorder, experience them differently. I would suggest that you get back in touch with your treating doctor, and let him or her know your concerns about matters dealing with your heart. Feel better soon. Good luck "

" No your not alone, you need medication raised or new medication that will control your seizures besides your heart. But if you having them like that maybe try the VNS stimulator pacemaker that will control both if you do not make enough money get the VNS stimulator free

" No you are not is right!I also feel you need your mediation raised.Their is alot of different ways other medicine works like yes a VNS and right know a newer kind of Stimulator. Not to many people know of witch is a Responsive Neuro Stimulator-RNS. It is still being tested and hasn't become FDA right now,but is working very good it may beable to be FNA in 2010? I had that surgery of the RNS in 2006 and I have felt better since.http://neuropace.com P.S. I hope you will feel better soon. "

" Hi Alisha,
My heart goes out to your situation, unfortunately, it's not unusual. Being scared is just being smart. Please, search the internet until you find a seizure support group. It might feel awkward at first, but it'll be good for you to know you're not alone and also to hear other people's stories. You can learn from their experience.
Good luck, Linda "

" I have the same reaction during my sz.My Dr freaked out when I was in the hosp and my heart had stopped for 1 solid minute. They were about to use the paddles and my heart jump started on its own.
Mine are bad enough that I had a Vagus Nerve Stimulater impland which helps but is not totally foolproof "

" I had seizures in my sleep from 1978 to 2002, so you are not alone. When I was young i had mild patial seizures, but as i got older I started having grandmal seizures which at one point almost cracked my head open.
I always woke up in pain, and hardly had any energy to go through the long school day.
I would be glad to have a hurther conversation with you "
