Sinus pressure: home remedies?

OK, the Zyrtec-D is not cutting it! Don't even get me started on Claritin-D (which seems to be like a sugar pill for me!) We have had 2 hard frosts but my allergies are worse, if anything. Air pressure maybe, or humidity? I don't know, but the brain fog, nausea, and almost-constant dull headache are starting to get to me, big-time! I am finding it hard not to get irritable, anxious, and depressed. And I can forget about concentrating on anything! On clear days, I feel so much better, but sunny days are rare here. Anyone have any suggestions about clearing my sinuses? I'll try just about anything right about now!!!

" Here are a few tips:

1) start using saline solution this way - bring the bottle in shower, cup your hand and squeeze it into the palm, then sniff the saline out of the palm, this open up the passages where it should go, this this daily to begin getting relief and do as a maintenance. Use a humidifier in your bedroom and make sure you empty and clean daily and refill.
Self massage of sinus, massage with finger tip from the corner of your eye brows down long side nose and outward under eyes. If you feel tender spots press with index finger and hold for 30 seconds each time this a a trigger point and buy pressing a few time per day you will begin to get rid of that pressure.

I use to do these things and today I still use a humidifier but I do not have sinus problem ever since I started eating raw.

If your sinus are causing you that much discomfort and you need quick relief take sudafed every 4 hrs for a few days to get a jump start and use the methods above.

Eat raw is a transition and of course a personal choice.

I will tell I have lupus and allergies and I am med free and feel great. "

" Hmmm. OK, thanks. The massaging thing sounds good. I use saline spray a lot, though not quite like you recommended. It seems to help somewhat, sometimes. The humidifier would probably make things worse for me...I live in a VERY humid climate and mold grows EVERYwhere! In the winter, though, I might try it. "

" Similar to what ICish has suggested you could use a neti pot. Its a pot with a little spout that you fill with warm saline solution, you bend over so your head is pointing down, look up to the left and pour the water into your nostril, the water should then come out the other nostril. Then do the other side. Sounds strange but its totally great, works wonders. I learnt about it at yoga, but i've seen Dr. Oz show how to do it on Oprah. Search for neti pot on you tube, I'm sure you'll come up with something. You can probably order one over the net too. "

" Hi Sorry I am not being a jerk or correcting but pouring down won't help, you want to sniff it out of the palm of your hand so it goes into all the passages and little canals. Pour simple has it go straight in and right down the back of your throat. I live in Texas and still use humiderfier, you have to clean daily. "

" hard to explain... need a picture really... but the water basically goes in one nostril travels all the way down the back and out through the other nostril, completely cleaning everything out. Just google 'neti pot' go to images and you'll see what I mean. I tend to lean right down, others stay more upright as you'll see. "

" looking for solutions myself... the medications don't help at all. My doctor recommended the neti pot but I Haven't tried it yet. My nasal cavities are so small (and have a deviated septum) that most of what I spray in my nose comes right back out. I do try though, using "Simply Saline" for allergies/sinus every morning in the shower (because of the mess I make with stuff running back out). I think it helps a little. "
