We have one neighbor who daily burns scented oils in a lighted container by an open window next to us. She denies we can smell it. Other neighors has woodburning stove used as a side to regular heating system. All the smoke fills my house and that of other sensitive neighbor.
There are no laws prohibiting what they are doing. I am being kept ill.
I would like to hear from others with similar problems and how they are handling it.

" Can you try putting a fan at the window, facing OUT so the shit doesn't get in the house as much? I know that's a stretch, but you're talking to someone who once was so chemically sensitive, even and especially in her own home, that she had to watch television sitting outside looking through the window at it! Talk about looking strange to the neighbors! "

" I cover my windows with that plastic people use in the winter to keep heat in. It works very well keeping smells out and the plastic itself from the brand I bought doesn't smell. I bought mine at job lot in the beginning of fall. "

" Lucky news for me. After being told her burning incense in open windows was making me sick, my neighbor has agreed to keeping her window closed while burning it. I feel like I was just handed the keys to my city! Sheer delight. Porch again usable, can be out in yard, can have windows open in hot weather. Freedom from that toxin.
Next on my agenda is to try to see what can be done to get wood burning stoves and open air burning made illegal here. Some places have done it. Our houses are too close together for this toxicity to fill our homes. "

" I'm glad your neighbor stopped. As for wood stoves, yikes, they're killers. I have even worse problems with pellet stoves. I become so ill from exposure, that I slur my speech, have to lie down, get nauseated, headache, burning nose, aching jaw and teeth, etc. "
