Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with chronic sinusitis last November after going to the emergency room in with awful head pain. I have been having severe facial, head, and jaw pain for over a year now which has almost disabled me. I have been diagnosed in the past year with TMJ and facial neuralgia also. I had a septoplasty done in January, which does help me breathe better, but did not clear the sinusitis. I had several CAT scans which show all the sinuses are infected. My ENT put tubes in my ears about two weeks ago. I am getting some relief from that. He decided I need to have sinus surgery to get rid of the infection as I am going to a TMJ surgeon in September and he doesn't want me to have TMJ surgery with a chronic sinus infection. I have so much facial pain that I don't know if it is my sinuses, TMJ, or the neuralgia. I am wondering what type of pain others experience from the sinusitis? Also has anyone had the sinus surgery and was it successful? I am lucky to have a great ENT. Just looking for support and friends. Jennifer Posted on 07/18/09, 02:07 pm |

Do you have mercury fillings? I had chronic sinus infections, ear blocking, buzzing and numbness in my head. Once I had the fillings replaced, most of it went away.
And beware of conventional toothpastes and mouth washes. They're filled with toxic chemicals. Get natural, organic toothpaste. I don't know if this will help, just a suggestion. Welcome to the group!

I only get chronic sinusitis. It causes facial pain and a swollen feeling. The pain will radiate especially from the eyes and then spread back and up toward the back of the head, turning into a migraine if I do nothing about it.
I haven't tried sinus surgery but I hear it's not pleasant. Hope it goes well for you.

I can relate to the severe head pain. All I can offer until the medical world can help you is to "fake wide open yawns" often, to try to equalize pressure in middle ear. Sinus infection is SO BAD! Don't know about surgery, sorry.
