cottonwood allergy?

So i've had allergic reactions to cottonwood before but they've never been all that bad. This year the cottonwood is really bad around where i live and there's been barely any rain. I have a rash covering my arms that's different than any i've had before. It's sort-of white spots in the middle and then dark red edges that all are really close to each other- no space between them at all. I went to the pharmacist and she suggested going to the hospital but i decided to see if chlortripolon(antihistamine) would make it go away. After a couple hours it goes away but a couple hours after that it comes back. The pharmacist said she had never seen a rash like this before so i'm still worried about it.
Anyone have something like this before? Posted on 06/21/09, 12:06 pm |

I think you should definitely see your doctor about this rash. Is it dry or weepy, itchy, painful?

Interesting that it will go away with drugs. I think I'd get that one checked out by a doc.
I use a spoonful of local honey everyday (on a spoon just like a liguid med) and I think it helps with allergic responses. I live in a wooded area and something seems to be blooming all the time. Please keep us updated.

So i really don't know what happened but it's completely gone now. It was itchy and painful but that completely went away. I wore tight-fitting long sleeves for a couple days and mostly stayed inside so maybe that helped. I'm hoping it won't come back but i'll only be here another 5 days then i'll be out of town for 3 then i'll come back for a day and then i'll move to a place where i'll have less allergic reactions to plants and more allergic reactions to what's happening around me(allergic to most perfumes, shampoos, soaps, air fresheners, etc). I'm thinking about starting allergy medication, since i'll be around more things that i'm allergic to than i'm used to. Oh well wish me luck :)
Interesting about the honey- never heard that before.
