I am on disabilty from work...due to having sinus surgery 3 weeks ago on May 20th...
it started out as a cough...that lasted for 6 weeks...went to emergency 3 times...they gave me pills and sent me home.... long story short...I saw an ENT Dr...who ordered a cat scan of my sinuses...bingo !...they were severely clogged and infected....the post nasal drip was causing me to cough....I tried inhalers...nasal sprays....everything....even got sent to a pulmonary Dr ! was in the hospital overnight for the sinus surgery and to correct my deviated septum.....he also cut out polyps and trimmed my turbines ?...to help me breathe me better..... I am now 3 weeks post-op....and can finally breathe...without the use of pills...or inhalers...or sprays..... it's a relief to be able to breathe without struggling to...and the cough stopped too !...LOL... my story is an extreme one...but had to be done when all the other methods failed.... I do sinus sinus rinses twice a day the surgery was done under general anesthesia....but well worth the pain afterwards.... all the incisions were made inside the nose.... the only way to tell if your nose is severely clogged...like mine was...is to do the c/t scan.... my airways are clear...and it's GREAT !!! p.s.....all of this journey is in my journal.....from beginning to end Posted on 06/10/09, 03:06 pm |

Ok maybe you can tell me. I have had two CT scans and both times sinus clogged and infections. I have had chronic sinusitis/infection going on 4 years. My ears will swell so bad that you can't even get a q-tip to fit in the hole of my ear.......maybe I need to be more aggressive in getting the doctor to do something.........any advice

WHY wont the Dr's do anything.?
...my ear drum burst....still no c/t scan....I told them that if they didnt do something that I was going to cut my throat and that they would HAVE to admit me to the hospital as a psyche patient...I had a cough for 6 weeks straight..pure hell... go see an ENT Dr...they specialize in that sort of thing

I have had problems with yellow discharge from nose,bunged up and chest discomfort and breathlessness, doc thinks it could all be sinus related so going to ent specialist 2nd sept, hoping they can sort me out, I have been suffering for over a year and it is awful, I have 2 children and i find it hard to gather the energy to do things with them. Hopefully they will do a ct scan and such like.
