Hey everyone,
I'm not only a new member to this support group but to this site in general. I'm so thankful that this site has been made.

A little about me... I live in Maine, out all places, and have a lot of outdoor allergies. Don't get me wrong, I love Maine, it's a beautiful state and the people are friendly and honest and hard-working! I have lived in Maine for almost all my life.
I had allergy shots a few years ago but to make a long story short, my health benefits got cut and obviously can't afford them out of pocket. When I first got tested for all the allergens (pet dander, trees, etc), I ended up being allergic to quite a lot!
I'm allergic to: cats, dogs, mold, dust, cock roaches, 2 or 3 different types of trees, feathers and a couple other things that I can't remember that showed up on the test!

I sometimes take 12-hr, Zyrtec-D when I go to someone's house who has a cat and it works the best so far. Claritin doesn't do crap for me anymore cause I've taken it for so long that I think my body blocks it off entirely.

If any of you have any suggestions that I could do at home or for myself to help improve my allergies, please let me know!
I'm open to natural/herbal/oil remedies or just maybe it could be better ways of eating but I'm trying to avoid "popping pills" to "cure" my allergies.

Feel free to reply to this and tell me what you're allergic to and how you deal with it! :)

" Hi, Welcome to the site. Not sure I have many answers myself. I'm mainly allergic to dust and cockroaches (that's known). I don't take any medications because I haven't found any that work or don't have bad side effects for me. I'm trying allergy shots (9 months now) and not seeing much results yet. I also use a saline spray every day and take lots of Tylenol Sinus, about the only thing that may help when it gets bad. "

" Be careful, my doctor told me that Tylenol suppresses the immune system, especially long term use. "

" yes well I just heard it can cause kidney damage too. sigh... it's the only thing that helps my sinus pain.

loves2laugh, I'm sure you're probably doing it already, but I found that if i keep my bed sheet changed regularly it helps. (for the dust/mold) "
