Don't ever stay with a doctor who gives you such a message. There is always hope. I would find another one pronto, and also educate yourself. Got to Amazon.com and look up any books you can find and read, read, read. Type in allergic rhinitis in the search engines (google) with quotes around it and see what you come up with. Keep coming here, someone else may have what you have. Don't give up!!!

You don't have to take that answere if you don't like it. It is your body. I have several prob and I am tired of being told that too. I stood up to my pm doc last visit and you should have seen his face. I am on the look out for a new pm doc because I am responsible for me. Don't worry about it, mine was just as bad being a first message.

Was the doctor you had an allery specialist? They always have tons of meds and shots available. I tried many different drugs for years and nothing helped. FINALLY last year I tried Zyrtec and it's working great. But everyone is different. What works for one may not work for others. But don't give up tring. Keep looking and you may find something.

I am not so much into the "natural" type cures and such. But I did look into it at one time. At our local health food store they have drops made from different things that people are allergic to. You put a drop of the liquid under your tounge to build up immunity. I guess it is kind of like the same process of getting allery shots. But it has to be the same local type of allergens (or plants). Because in different states you may have different weeds and trees. I didn't get into it but it's out there. My 1st post was worse :( Your not alone hon believe me. Get a 2nd opinion. This is my 1st year with allergic rhinitis and it hit 1 day after I started feeling better after a 23 day bout with the Flu. Do you have Chest Congestion also? I wish you the best.

That was my little rap introduction, hope you liked it. I have had severe allergic rhinitis for 2 years. I used to be confident, energetic, loved to go out. Now I stay in and write on forums and listen to Norah Jones.

I had surgery in January because my god damn ENT insisted it was a sinus disorder. Since I live In Ontario where medical care is free, I had to wait 18 months to get a surgery date which was 6 months later. Combine that with waiting a year to see a specialist in the first place and months of trying out other medications, and in total, it's been 5 years. Surgery did nothing (he corrected a deviated septum), so the son of a bitch was dead fucking wrong. Even after I insisted it was allergies. Only recently did I get an allergy test and get a proper prognosis.

In short, allergies run my life and I've started immunotherapy a month ago. Nice to know there are other people who can bloody well understand that this is a disorder and not a "nerd disease for nerds."

Screw everybody else, at least you guys understand! Allergy sufferers unite!!
