Hi there, This has probably been asked before but I cant find it. We recently found out my daughter of 20 months has a lot of allergies. Mostly food but this new one is to our dog. THis may sound silly but I have had Max for almost 6 years and he is like one of my kids. I will be crushed if we have to find a new home for him. Of course I will do it if needed but I want to make sure that we try everything else we can first.
Yes I am going to take her to the doc buts it 2 weeks away and I was wondering if anyone else had gone through this and if there is any kind of med or shot that people can get for an allergy to dogs

" Sorry to hear about your daughter. I have severe allergies as well. I utilized the immuno shots, I moved in with fiance and he has cats (was deathly allergic). They worked for almost a year however now I have asthma from the cats. I would look into other treatments which I am doing now. I was on a large amout of meds but I found a new doctor who took me off of everything except nasal spray and occasionally singulair. There are shots that you could get for allergies instead of immuno therapy. However they do not give them to children. You could try keeping the dog out of your daughters bedroom, so she does not breathe in dander at night while asleep. Also regular bathing will cut back on dander, or even bath wipes they are easier. There is an anti allergen spray you could order from Dr. Foster and Smith, lemon scented works wonders believe it or not. And get rid of carpeting if you have any. Another good web site is allergy be gone for anti allergen bedding and air cleaners. I have done all of these things and my allergies have improved tremendously. Let me know if you need any websites or any other ideas. I am going back to allergist in two weeks. good luck with everything "

" Shave the dog too. It sounds funny but it really helped with my sisters allergies. Good luck. "

" The bedroom treatment is highly recommended. An air cleaner should be added anytime the windows are closed, during cooling and heating season. I would close off all vents and heat separately with a space heater, and cool with ind a/c or fans. All of this really helps. My husband has COPD and my daughter highly allergic, and we operated a dog kennel! "
