Not sure what that is...cold weather, suffering from a cold, ???
Most people's skin dries out in cold weather, and can cause the skin to itch. Uticaria is excessive itching from a circulatory reaction in the skin, and is very intense itching.

It's an allergic reaction to the cold. Bad hives and itching takes place.

my sister was just diagnosed last year with it. She broke out in hives on her arm just from the cool wind blowing on it. Holding a cold drink. etc. She has been on allergy meds and it seems to help.

I've got cold urticaria which means I'm allergic to the cold. It really gets me down because in summer all my friends were shorts and short skirts but as I live in england it's mainly cold all the time so I have to wrap up what ever the weather and make sure I always have a cardigan or coat with me. I also have an adrenaline pen which is know as an epipen, I have to carry this round with me all the time incase I have a epaletic fit. I wish I could find some kind of medication that will work for me I've tried all sorts and so has my dermatologist. Any-one know any other medicaions I could try? I'll be glad to hear from you! =]

I have had it for about 35 years, although it wasn't diagnosed for 13 years. My doctor though I was nuts before that.
Haven't outgrown it, unfortunately. I've learned to layer a lot and be very careful when working out, watching the room temp and wearing extra sweatshirts when necessary. I also avoid swimming unless the water is warm enough. Living in a place with cold winters and humid summers makes it interesting. Can't wear the low cut stuff in winter....mostly turtlenecks. Glad to know there are others like me.

My 15-year-old daughter suffers from this too. She also has cholinergic and physical urticaria. It has made her life very depressing. So many people have never heard of it and when you explain it to them they tell her to suck it up, don't be a baby, toughen up. She can't do cheerleading or go sledding or snowboarding. She can barely go to school. It is a horrible ailment but because it is as rare as it is there is practically no medical help available.
