Advice:
Unusual side effects on singulair

My nephew started Singulair about 6 months ago, recently he started having sweet smelling body odor. The doctor said that it could be a possible side effect but I can't find anything supporting the theory. Nephew is 9, so we thought he may be starting puberty but nothing seems to be working. The poor kid is constantly showering, changing clothes and bed sheets, uses deodarant but still smells. Has anyone else had this problem with Singulair? Hate to take him off cuz it really seems to be helping with his allergies and asthma.

" I also take singulair. It's a great help for my allergies and asthma. I ivestigate everything I take. In the past I have had very very bad reactions to ASPARTAME. Since your nephew is 9, I am guessing he is using the chewable form of singulair, and SINGULAIR chewable tablets contain aspartame. I research everything to make sure it doesnt have aspartame sweetener. The regular tablets do not have aspartame. I am guessing this is your nephews problem. GOOGLE ASPARTAME. NOBODY SHOULD BE INGESTING IT, and its in a lot of things. I was getting a steady stream of it without realizing it was in the chewing gum I favored. "

" Thanks! I didn't realize there was aspartame in the chewables and that is what he takes. we have figured out that he also has really bad breathe, so we switched him to an adult strength mouth wash and toothpaste. That seems to be helping quite a bit.

Thanks again! "
