Well, at the moment I feel as though my nose is swollen and my head just from blowing so much! I have been on Nasonex for about 3wks. now and my Allerga I take as needed. Well, I don't understand it! I feel as I'm having a set back a BIG one. Everyone at work is experiencing the same thing I am sneezing, coughing, itchy throat, stuffy head. Well, my thing is I take allergy med. The doc. said to use Nasonex every day and the Allegra is suppose to back me up as needed. Well, I have done this and for the 2 day in a row I'm still not any better. I feel like I'm back to square one. I suffered for 2wks. and saw 2 diff. doctors before even getting anywhere. I thought I actually had the flu, or sinuitis for 2 freakin' weeks. Basically, help tell me what to do to ease my suffering. Granted there's probably not much considering I work in a dust filled warehouse! Durning the week I'm not as bad, but the weekend it's terrible. Any Advice?

Ok.. not sure if I fully understand your situtation, but 1) do you/ can u wear a dusk mask at work? 2) can you take breaks every 30-60 minutes, to go outside, and breath fresh air? 3) maybe switch from nasonex to something different? I tried astelin before, personally liked it... also, make sure you ask dr you are using it the right way (mine I had to tip head down, and spray UP nostril), also they can cause rebound stuffiness. Good luck!!

I get like that when I don't take Benadryl. I've been taking it for a few years. Maybe you could try that? It's over the counter.

I am allergic to dust and honestly the only thing that helps me are allergy shots. I went through all the OTC plus a few prescription drugs and they all quit working over time.

Sometimes we have to change meds if they don't work, some meds don't work on me, I have to get shots.

I had a bout of really bad allergies once that lasted a solid 3 days(could'nt work). I went to an ear/nose/throat specialist and they gave me a steriod shot-it worked wonders!!! But they can't give them to you all the time. I started on shots after that.
As for daily problems with allergies, I take Benadryl.

Try using a neti pot (saline rinse). It's a little weird at first, but it really does work for dust!

Not all drugs work for everyone. I had to have Allegra-D, not plain Allegra. My Dr just started me on a new one called Xyzal and so far it seems great. I would ask my dr for a change in meds. I would also ask for a prednisone pack or a cortisone shot (same thing, different delivery) they can't give you steroids a lot, but they work wonders when you do get them! I would also do the saline mist twice a day-you probably really need to gedt your sinuses cleaned out good. A good nose spray is Veramyst. It is wonderful!! As for the other poster's warnings, all meds have some possible side effects, but there is no way I could live without my allergy meds! They are certainly the lesser of 2 evils for me and the risks are worth to be able to live my life instead of inside a balloon.

I have dust allergies and have tried many many prescription meds and nasal sprays. Nothing has helped at all. I am going to start allergy shots since the meds aren't helping me. I hate shots but I am going to give it a chance.
