okay,once a year,i cough uncontrollably.i mean... i kinda hurts,and its annoying!once a year,i start coughing,and somtimes i feel like barfing. i use cough drops,but that doesnt work long at all.i need to know HOW to stop this coughing!!!in class,i have to cough somtimes.my body shakes and my eyes tear up badly,and i get a headache becouse i have to keep it in so i dont interrupt class.so...i need advise on HOW exactly to stop it,and WHY im coughing so badly!so whoever reads this,give me some advise!please!

I am experiencing this symptom for the first time this year. In the past my reaction was always running nose & sneezing, however for some odd reason I have none of that this season ~ only this nagging cough which gets worse at night.

Are you running a fever? You really should be checked for bronchitis, or even pneumonia!
Otherwise, not sure. Try Oil of Oregano. 4 drops 4 times a day, in a small amount of water. Also, take a teaspoon of honey to soothe the throat and calm down the tissues in your bronchial tract. Good luck!

You should make an appointment with a lung docter as soon as possible, to make sure you don't have allergic asthma.
I suffered a nagging cough for eight weeks once, before I was diagnosed with allergic asthma. It was the shock of my life, because always thought that asthma was gasping and wheezing, and suffocating. It wasn't - it turned out to be a tickling cough that went on night and day. You might not have asthma at all - but even if you don't a lung doctor can help you.

That's true, I forgot about asthma. My niece has a severe case, and coughing is a big part of it.

I get that all the time. If your coughing up mucus then it is called dripping sinuses. Mucus drips from you sinus down the throat and can get into the lungs. Normaly allergies cause this to get worse. I take 10mg of Zyertec and 10mg of Singular and it goes away. Talk to you doctor about it. Don't hold in the cough! You could give your self a lung infection by doing that
And NewStrength the coughing will get worse because gravity isn't pulling to mucus down, so try using 2 or 3 small pillows to help move it down

ok...I have been coughing now...for almost 6 weeks straight ...been in the hospital 3 times...urgent care...twice...saw my pdoc...saw the Pulmonary Dr..got put on all kinds of meds....
NOTHING has stopped this cough... saw my ENT...who scheduled a c t scan ...of my sinuses...which I had done..yesterday. ...turns out...the cough is going on because of post nasal drip.,...both sides of my sinuses are blocked...I cant breathe out of my nose... so I go back to the ENT this Friday...and surgery will be done to correct this and to finally stop this deep cough.... if the coughing doesnt stop...have a c t scan done....it will show everything... I was put on 3 diff kinds of antibiotics....3 cough syrups....several nose sprays...allergy pills...cough pills....nasal rinses....inhaler...and 2 rounds of prednisone.... NONE OF THE PRESCRIPTION MEDS WORKED TO STOP THE COUGH... no over the counter drugs worked either...and I tried them all. they first said I had bronchitis....the hospital took 2 sets of x chest rays...which were clear...had blood and urine work done...those were fine.... my sinuses arent draining right...thus making me cough....
