I had an enlarged prostate that kept me urinating constantly and getting little sleep. I used Flomax for several years to control the urge to urinate. It made me feel terrible and was only partially effective. Also, it caused retrograde ejaculation which reduced the pleasurable sensation of orgasm somewhat. After many sleepless nights and constantly hunting restrooms during the day, I decided on transuretral resection (TURP)of the prostate. Urologist took out about half my prostate. This was effective for a while in reducing the urge to urinate, but it also caused retrograde ejaculation. Eventually, I got erectile dysfunction and my wife is convinced the TURP caused this. Now, I am trying to use a vacuum pump to get erections. Also, I am taking Enablex to control the urination. Bottom line, if I had to do it over again, I would have kept my prostate for purposes of erection and more pleasurable ejaculation. I really miss having a normal ejaculation, even when masturbating.
