Hello Everyone,

I was just diagnosed by my GP with BPH. I had been having to urinate at night a couple of times/night sometimes more, then started having to go about every hour in the day time. I had mild discomfort in my bladder area and a sort of irriated, burning feeling between my scrotum and my rectum. Urine test was clear, white blood cell count was normal, digital rectal exam stated that prostate was enlarged about 40%,but was normal with no nodules. The Dr. put me on Flomax three days ago. I am forty two years old. My PSA level on my blood test is not back yet so I am sort of nervous about that too.

Question One: How long will it be before the Flowmax is fully working in my system.

Question Two: Has anyone had the burning, irritating feeling between their scrotum and rectum? It is not unbearable just aggrevating. What causes this and will the medicine eventually help get rid of it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

" The burning feeling can be caused by a urinary tract infection or an infected prostate. I had that experience and was diagnosed with an infected prostate and was given a prescription of antibiotics specifically for this purpose. After only one dose, the burning stopped. I continued the treatment for 10 days. Haven't had any problems since. "
