This is the most well presented information that I've come across yet. Added to You Tube by www.hersfoundation.org, there is a petition out to make this video a requirement for doctors to show their patients before they undergo a hysterectomy. There is so much information in this video, that doctors sometimes don't tell us. I certainly recommend watching it.

" Are you kidding me? There is a time when hystercetomy is VITAL to a woman's well-being. I know at least 4 women with total hysterectomies whose lives improved dramatically following surgery. Thanks for the info, but this is the most gloom and doom info I have ever heard about a hysterectomy and its side effects. The most informative part was about how the uterus affects the bladder and bowel after removal. However, after watching this, it would not keep me from having a total hysterectomy. Cronic endo pain is debilitating and affects a woman's emotions and complete way of life. If the surgery will help, I'm all for it. Can't wait for other input. "

" Yes, Dedra I'm well aware of the effects that endo has. I can also completely understand how negative this video may be for many. The hersfoundation certainly made it in a way that looks quite dramatic. However, aside from that I still feel that a lot of information was gained from it (about surgery in general) and can only hope that someone else finds it useful. That was the purpose in placing it here. "

" I totally agree with dedra14. I think some of the negative side effects were greatly exaggerated. I have had a hyst with the removal of both ovaries and cervix because of endo, and I don't have any of the problems mentioned in the video. "

" Just wanted to thank you for posting this. Too often women make decisions without knowing how much their lives will change. Currently, I am stage IV and keep having surgeries to remove the endometriosis. A part of me wants a hysterectomy, but my doctors will not approve it until my depression lifts. This video shows all of the negative aspects of having the hysterectomy.. which is good because now I can weigh that against the positives I will gain. Hysterectomies are not a cure for endo, but they do help most of the time. No patient should ever sign a form for a surgery until they are well informed. "

" On December 6th I just had a complete hysterectomy and I'm feeling great. What's worse than having endo for 21 years? I have done a lot of reading about surgery, endo, etc. over the last number of years. What about all these killer drugs that mask endo for awhile until its come back and starts to terrorize our bodies again. Look at their side effects!!!! I know so many people, young and old, who have had hyst. due to endo and quality of ther lives has improved greatly!!! I feel a difference in my body already and it has only been a week. I'm 50 and I wish I had the complete hyst. years ago. 21 years to suffer with endo is too long!!!! "

" Ok,,that video was a little disturbing. Even the voice of the lady scared me. I'm having a hysterectomy next Thursday and have to decide if I would like to keep an ovary or go into menopause. Now I'm really confused!! From the people I have known that have had this,,everyone has been extremely happy. I just pray I am one of them. "
