There are other options they must not know about - like they should discuss the possibility of a pre-sacral neurectomy or LUNA procedure (stops cramps completely in most women for life). I had this done and it is certainly the next step after other treatments and before hyst.
Get the book "Living Well With Endometriosis" that is available on amazon. I am telling you, it describes EVERY treatment and how it can work. Also, look into acupuncture. It has done wonders for me.

ANd if you have no plans for more kids...you can get an endometrial ablation...this is the surgical removal of the lining of the uterus. It will render you sterile so this is not a good option for anyone wanting kids. But it's a step below a hysterectomy...you'd be able to keep ovaries for hormones.
I second Utah....that is a great book!

Just thought I would mention, the book Living Well With Endo that Utah describes is available (in Australia at least) through the library if you have financial difficulties :)
Another alternative is natural progesterone, which can help a lot and does not have side effects as it is identical to what your body makes... However, you have to pay to get it made specially for you. xx
