this is a venting/ I need opinions discussion.
Please tell me if your doctors have told you similar or completely different things.
My doctor put me on 500mg of glucofage a day to treat what they say is my PCOS. He told me that 90% of women with PCOS get pregnant just by taking the glucofage. He said for the women who don't get pregnant off of pcos is because they need to loose weight in addition to taking glucofage. He said I would be pregnant in no time because weight was not an issue. Well here I am going on three years (in February) and I am still not pregnant. The glucofage did help me to start a period. But its very irregular. I am on 3 months off 3 months.I moved so I had to switch doctors a year and a half ago. So My current doctor decided to up my dosage in June to 1000mg a day to hopefully get me to have a period more often. Well ever since June I have had only one menstrual cycle. So I went back to my doctor in August and said look we need to try something else we still are having no luck. My husband had a semen analysis last May and everything came back fine. So my doctor said lets start you on clomid. I have heard good and bad results from this have any of you tried clomid and what was your experience?
Well anyways like I mentioned I have only had one period since June here we are and its the end of October. So My doctor said lets wait another month and then I will start you on provera. I started provera 5 days ago and I pray that it works. ( I took it last year and it did not give me a menstrual cycle). Once I start a period which hopefully happens and on my 5th day of cycle I can finally start the clomid. She gave me 50mg of clomid for 5 days.

I have alot of the symptoms of Endometriosis as well. But my doctor said lets see if we can get rid of the symptoms before we go in laproscopy and test you for it. I have sever pains in my lower abdomen so bad I crawl in the fetal position and stay there for hours. On a few occasions we were temped to call an ambulance it got so bad but didnt due to knowing we didnt have the money and the pains would go away soon. The pains start right before my period and get more severe toward the end of my period then go away. Its very painful to have sex with my husband as well. I also get severe lower back pain. I am always tired get bad headaches etc... are these signs or symptoms of Endo?
If so.. how can I encourage my doctor to treat me. My friends say the longer you wait the more severe it gets and the lower your chances are at getting pregnant...

Also those of you who have PCOS what treatments have you received? What has been successful for you?

" Hi cardinals,
I can't believe that you have been left 3 years ttc without being checked out properly! A diagnostic laparoscopy is not considered to be major and the benefit of a diagnosis is that the correct treatment can be applied. Hell, you might just need your tubes flushing or further surgery to remove endo, or who knows? I'm no doctor. Could of course be nothing visible in an op, but a negative finding also helps eliminate things.
All I know is that I was told that typically after one year of trying unsuccessfully investigations would be made.
Since I have confirmed endo, the one-year rule may not apply and help could be given earlier.
You need to find yourself a new specialist, I would think! "

" thanks everyone for your comments. I am going to look into acupuncture. My husband and I have came up with certain things we want done asap and if this doctor won't do it we will find a new one. If she can't work with us then we will find someone else and I plan on letting her know that my next appointment later this month. on that list is doing the laparoscopy surgery to see if I have endo. that is number 1. so we will see what happens. " just thought i would mention that to have a venogram CT dye test would be good to have done as number 1. (for pelvic congestion).
took me just over two years to get diagnosed and found out i did not need a laprosopy at all.
the venography is just an appointment with an interventional radiologist to book in for a vanography where they inject some dye.

your symptoms are same to that of either endo or pelvic congestion. i have the exact same symptoms you mention (i have no endo) and mine flares up before period and just after. but the pain etc is rather always there. the pain before and at period shoots into my groin.

i just thought i would put this info out there for you to make the decision. it's ashame the docs dont mention pelvic congestion that much for a possible diagnosis. because to rule that out is alot simpler than having a lap done.

xx "
