Mirena?

Hello all. I went to my doctor yesterday July 29th, 2009 and talked to him about what to do next for my endo. I have been in so much pain latly I find myself taking tramdol everyday now. It help me get through the day. We talked about the next step to do is Mirena. Now I have never had kids and I DONT WANT ANY OF MY OWN! I have read on many different other forums that women that have not had kids have had mirena. Some have side effects some dont. Most say its the best thing ever did few say they never will again. We know all women are different, right? Who knows how it will be on me. We dont know unless we try right? Well, I want to know if there was anything possitive about it that you can tell me. How long have you had it? Any side effects? Do you or did you like it? How bad was it when it was first put in? Did the doctor give you anything when he did put it in like numbing meds or pain meds? I have read that is the rough part about the mirena is when its first put in. So anything else you can think of to let me know please do. I want to know everything about it. Now I have insernce that covers paps and birth control and this type of birth control so its coverd so I dont even have to pay for it so I am willing to if it does help. So let me know. Thanks for your time. ^_^

" hey hun i have had the merina, it was inserted against my wishes during surgery, what the drs didnt tell me was cos i have not had children i could experience false labour pains (this happened 4 times in 8 months and it was horrible i blotted and started walking like a duck lol, it hurt like buggery), i also had a cyst grow on my right ovary the size of my ovary witch stuck everything together, i had pains with moving even walking i could feel the merina great pains. i would never use it again. for me it also caused great depression. the merina can also twist and that hurts like nothing i have ever experienced before.

give it a go hun you never know it may work for you.

good luck and please let me know what you decided

" I had the Mirena put in a few years back. I had it in for about a 8 month until it caused havack. Those first 7 months were good. I never really had any heavy bleeding or anything. Having it put in is not painful, it's a bit uncomfortable and you will have a pinching feeling, but we have endo and have lived with the gut wrenching suck the life out of you pain for months or years on end, so we can definitly handle them putting that in! You will be fine, take a few advil an hour before going, it will help curb it a bit! And bring a pad, they are messsing around down there and it is sensative so you might bleed a little from the invation. But not for long. Good luck, I hope after a month or so it works for you! "

" Thanks toriB and puglys. That helps a lot. I know every woman is different when it comes to things to do. One thing might help one but it might not help someone else. I am willing to try it sense its free to me to do. Never hurts to try right? Today I have been in so much pain that I have been in tears and that was on my pain meds. Usally they help but today just isnt my day. So, I hope this will be some help to me for everything I want it for. If anyone else wants to join in on this thread please feel free. Like I said more info I get the better. Thanks a lot!!! ^_^ "

" For birth control purposed I LOVED Mirena, I had it for a year, no periods, no side effects, really no problems, it was GREAT. The only reason I had it taken out was because of the horrible pelvic pain I was having, when they took it out and the pain didn't go away, they did a laparoscopy and found and diagnosed me with endometriosis. And the pain was really bad, but then again the surgery didn't help either, so maybe it's jut me, but it didn't help. "

" First question goes to puglus. U said it for the first 7th months were good but then came to the 8th months then you were having havack. What kind of problems where you having? I like to know all before I even say yes to my Doctor.

And Second question goes to lizljensen. You say you had it for a year and loved it but then you had it taken out because of the pelivc pain. So doesnt that mean that was a side effect. Just trying to understand. So you did not know you had endo before it. Wonder if that set off the endo pain. Anything is possible I guess.

On a different website about mirena most say its wonderful for them but I dont know if any have endo so that is why I asked on here. I am feeling up and down about trying this. Not sure anymore.

Let me know your thoughts. ^_^ "
