cyclical pain

it seems as though my pain pattern has evolved into this:
most of the month, i'm fine. i get occasional shooting pains in my abdomen or low back, and some tension during urination.
during my cycle, though, i take naproxen on a schedule from begining to end, i don't get pain for the first 3-5 days, but on the 5th day or so, my body throws itself into crazyness! i have a full day (or night) of abdominal pain, as if my intestines are spasming, and i get a contraction pain in my uterus (although, thankfully, not as intense as it was before i started on the naproxen). my guts feel sore for several days afterwards, as if someone had punched me in the stomach. its a bruised-up feeling, which i'm pretty sure is what it is. for the sore aftermath, i just use a heating pad and keep up the meds until i stop bleeding.
during this time, when i'm in this sort of pain, i tend to get fever, and i tend to get little gaps in my memory... like my brain is trying to block it out. it's a little unnerving. i feel as if i've lost a day.

does this sound familiar to anyone? anyone have any tips on how to calm that stuff down?
i don't mind getting even sorta bad menstrual cramps, but this stuff really puts me out of commission!

hope eveyone's doing alright today! happy 4th for those in the US!!
