Hey ladies,
I have just had a package delivered through the post. I thought it was something I'd ordered from ebay! I'm having a Sigmoidoscopy (magic eye) this coming wed and considering all the operations I've had, I'm feeling ridiculously nervous. They sent me two packets of laxatives and a load of instructions that seem a bit overwhelming right now. I know that a lot of you have also had the procedure done and it seems that it goes hand in hand with the endo. Please has anyone got any advice or some handy tips so that I can get through this with as little stress as possible. I think I'm getting worked up just due to the nature of the procedure but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies x Posted on 07/03/09, 07:07 am |

Hello :) the process itself was easy as pie...no pain for me. BUT..the prep part was the worst. I had so many laxatives and other stuff to clear me out that the day before I started to vomit the meds back up. I say take what your body can handle and once you think you are "cleaned" out you probably are!

hey nad, unfortunately the prep is the worst part.
i parked myself in the bathroom for hours because literally you are going to have to run to the toilet. bring your laptop or books or music. get a nice blanket and cushions to sit down on if the floors nice. i also drank sprite as its clear, inbetween drinking the laxtatives. Because the fact is, it maybe the worst thing you've ever had to drink. So prepare yourself! but you will get thro it and will lose a few pounds on the plus side! hehe. i had a colonoscopy and the procedure itself wasn't too bad. the sedative and painkillers are pretty nice hehe. i did have a problem because i think i have endo near my bowel so for me i woke up in a lil pain. But i can't actually remember the pain if that makes sense, its all to do with how your memory is wiped by the drugs lol. i really hope it goes well! don't be scared! i was petrified before, but having gone thro it, it's not even close to being as bad as i thought. i'd happily have it done again (not happily but you know what i mean. its not a big deal.)

Tori is absolutely right.....park yourself in the bathroom with things to occupy yourself. After a couple of hours you will start to poop clear liquid....although I guess I really shouldnt call it "poop"...lol. I didnt have any cramping at all during the prep process, just a lot of squirting. You will be fine....just keep yourself as occupied as possible with things you can enjoy while sitting:)

I did the same things as the others...just set myself up in the bathroom with some magazines and got comfy for awhile. You'll know when you're done. Best of luck!!

Hi there guys!
Thank you so much for your advice. As it turned out, I was so ill the 2 days before the procedure that I didn't eat a thing so when I took the laxatives, my tummy made a lot of noise, a little cramping and as Kristin said, I also had a bit of squirting! And same goes for ToriB, I've lost a few pounds which is always good! Like Channon and Sheri also said I knew when I was "cleaned out"! Which proves once again that the advice on here from you ladies is invaluable! Thanks again x x
