What should I do

I have had endo since I first got my period but of course all the doctors told me it was normal and I was just a wimp and i should learn to deal with it, mind you this started in about 92, 93.
In 07 things got that bad that finally a specialist agreed there was something wrong, and he did a laproscopy (however it is spelt) and started me on depo provera injections, saying if they stop the period it will stop the problems caused by the endo. Everything was fine for about 15 months and then one of the injections didn't last the 8 weeks (mind you it is meant to last 12 weeks but hey), I ended up in so much pain and bleeding but then they just gave me another injectin which stopped everything and all was good again. But then about 3-4 months ago I got an injection that didn't work at all, when I saw the doc they just redid the injection, it lasted all of 3-4 weeks, then I had pain and bleeding for 4 weeks straight. The doc did the ultrasound and the ct scan and everything came back clear. The doc was going to refer me to a specialist. Then it was time for the next injection so the doc just did the injection and said we would wait to see if it works this time. It did for a while but only lasted for 6 weeks, then again the pain, etc. The doc just redid the injection and said wait to see what happens now but he is going on holidays for a week now and said it will all be good, but hes not the one experiencing the pain when it flares up. What should I do? I am so over the pain I am seriously considering a hysterectomy. Does anyone have any advice for me? Posted on 07/03/09, 05:07 am |

Hi there.
I would ask to see another doctor for their opinion, this doctor doesnt seem to care very much from what youve said. The shot clearly isnt working for you, if you see another doctor they may refer you to a specalist.

hi there
i would see about getting another doctor. also try the endo diet. you can get vitamin c for immune system, vitamin e and omega 3 for imflamation, ginger for nausea and vitamin b complex for energy and going organic. another thing is a cold pack(like frozen peas or ice pack) use it when your on your period or for pelvic pain. it definatly helps me. hopefully this will help you. good luck on everything sabrina http://www.carolynchambersclark.co...

Yeah - he is really not trying enough to help you. If a hormonal treatment stops working it is obviously not the treatment for you....my regular GP is super dumb and even SHE knows that.
Can you try to find a specialist in endo removal and maybe look at a lap with a better surgeon? I had a lap first with a dumb doctor and ended up sicker and no BCP worked for me (but I didn't try depo or lupron). When I had a lap with a great surgeon it helped tons. When my pain returned again, I turned to acupuncture and diet and it has helped tremendously.

I saw a new doctor today and he has done a referral for me, I just have to wait to they open on Monday to call and make an appointment to see a specialist now.
Last night was bad, I nearly went to the hospital it was so bad. If tonight is that bad again I will be going so they can do something about the pain. I can't keep dealing with this pain, it is so bad I can't move when it is at its worse, and at its best I can walk but doubled over... No pain today thankfully but feeling weak and shaking and slightly nauseous... The pain is really becoming too much.

You poor thing! I am so sorry to hear about all this. Please try to get another doctor!
You need someone who will actually listen to you and help you! I think we all know how it feels to be in extreme pain and feel like you have no options. Big hug to you!

I am so sory to hear things arent going well with your Dr. I am on my 5th Dr since like you they tried to do the least for the most pain I am in. I dont think they understand. I wish some of them could take my pain for a week and see if they arent going to the ER to get some relief. all though going to the ER does help the pain for a bit it doesnt make it go away and you have a huge bill. I kept going to the ER and finally gave up. They give you morphine and send you on your way and by the time you get home your in pain again. I had a hysterectomy and it didnt help me. I'm going in tomorrow for a laparoscopy. I had a laprascopy the last time but my new endo specialist wants this other procedure done on me this time. Good luck on finding an endo specialist. You can look for one yourself. I did and with the help of my ins. Co. I found a really good Dr. I called around to many of them and researched thm on the internet before finding him. I have to drive 2 hours away but its worth every mile. Take care and let us know how things go....xxxx Staci
